West Ham’s Joe Cole has reportedly agreed a deal to join Championship side Brighton & Hove Albion.

At 32-years-old, Cole is believed to have accepted the fact he won’t be offered consistent first-team football in the Premier League and is interested in working under former Barcelona coach Oscar Garcia.

Cole leaving will free up a reported £90,000-a-week in wages – admittedly, some of this is subsidised by his pay-off from Liverpool.

It was never going to be the homecoming we all dreamed of, was it?

It really could have been the homecoming we all dreamed of though…

To be honest we got the Joe Cole no other premiership teams were willing to take on. Sadly his career through whatever reasons had come to an end well before he came “home”.

its all about cost versus value (performances). … A player like Joe Cole needs to be consistently performing in line with his wage bracket. if he doesnt he needs to go. … if his wage was less, i’d have him in the squad for several more years to come.
Same goes for Jarvis. … both good squad players for west ham.
But having said that, i’d put a first class winger top of my list of positions to fill in the summer. Along with a goalscorer and also 2 centre mid players – 1 physical all-rounder and 1 creative “door unlocker”.
