West Ham’s transfer business complete

Fernando AlexandreSam Allardyce has told Sky Sports that he doesn’t expect West Ham to complete any more signings before the end of the transfer window. Not surprising as, unless we offload any of the players who want away, our 25-man squad is fully booked.

Although we have secured the services of Antonio Nocerino and Marco Borriello, Big Sam has also spoken out about his disappointment with this transfer window, explaining that it has been ruthless.

Talking about the failed Lacina Traore deal, he told the Telegraph: “I thought I had him the other day when I was sat with the sporting director of Monaco just about to sign the papers. And all of a sudden it didn’t happen.”

“The volatility of this window is pretty ferocious on the basis that you can’t think you are going to sign somebody until he has signed on the dotted line because you never know what is going to happen.

“It is ruthless because there are few players available in this window and this season than ever before. We all end up chasing the same player.

The move for Leeds United’s Ross McCormack has also fallen through, with Leeds confirming that they rejected a bit from the Hammers for their captain, thought to be for around £3.5million. With 17 goals scored in the Championship this season, it’s unsurprising that they’re reluctant to let him leave.

Big Sam has already signed five players (Ok, so one of them was Carlton Cole), so we’ve done a decent amount of business. The only complaint I would have is that I wish we’d had our transfers sorted out earlier so that our newbies could help us out in our crucial new year fixtures.

However, according to Sport Witness, West Ham have already agreed one deal for the summer, snapping up Fernando Alexandre from Portuguese side Academia. The 28 year old will be available on a free transfer and it’s been reported in Portuguese newspapers that the deal has already been agreed. But we know how those deals go, don’t we Lacina Traore!?

I just dont understand some of those players who have joined other clubs at the last minute or those other numerous targets who are not keen to join our beloved Irons. Is it something about our style of play or perhaps a little wary of bfs team selections? Is it because they are “tippy tappy” footballers so disliked by our management, and perhaps have only been coached to pass the ball rather than line up ten abreast in our goal and offer their bodies as sacrificial lambs? Perhaps we need more heroes like Matt Taylor, cant pass to save his life, gives the ball away in the penalty area, kicks anything that moves but tremendous at throwing his body at shot after shot. A true bfs man and with players in the team like him who needs the Brookings, Devonshires,Di Cannio types to survive?
