Mark Noble Andy CarrollIt appears West Ham’s hand has been forced, a game or so early, with Claret and Hugh revealing that Andy Carroll will lead the line against former club Newcastle United – *transfers Andy into fantasy football team*

Despite only coming on in the 72nd minute against Cardiff City, Carroll managed to grab an assist but you’d imagine Sam Allardyce & co would’ve liked to have eased the big man back in.

However, with Carlton Cole a free agent, Lacina Traore yet to be (if ever) confirmed and Modibo Maiga, well, is just Modibo Maiga it appears West Ham’s record signing will start the game.

A source told Claret and Hugh: “Whatever happens there’s a chance for him but we definitely need to tie down a second striker if humanly possible before we move on that.

“He has done well recently and ideally we would like to bring in that second player and perhaps offer Carlton a deal similar to his current one with us.

“But until we know where we are with Traore that’s going to have to wait. However, it all means that Andy will start on Saturday whereas perhaps ideally Sam would have liked to throw him on for the second half.”

Oh dear, looks like Roger Johnson will be our only signing. Hope I am wrong but it doesn’t look good with other negotiations. If AC can stay fit then that will be a big boost for the rest of the season, but not sure that he will be enough to keep us up. I thought Peligrini would only be to happy to loan us Lescott after Pardew abused the fella on the touch line the other night, with the WHU V Newcastle coming up.

Whats the betting that Traore will not be coming to us?????
