SEVEN reasons why West Ham won’t get relegated

|

Avram GrantThe word ‘relegation’ has been pushed around the West Ham fans a lot lately. People have said it everywhere, and things look a little grim. However we are not going down and here is why:

1. Injuries

Injuries have been killing us lately, and while they are a part of modern football they will heal. Andy Carroll is back training and should be able to play near Christmas or the New Year. Winston Reid is also due back around then, Reid will add some serious steel to the back four and provide some excellent defensive cover. Carroll is the key man for the team, the target we need. When he comes back we should be able to score more goals and take some more points, however we need him to remain injury free.

2 January isn’t that far away.

West Ham need some re-enforcements and they are coming soon. Some good players have been linked with West Ham for loan and to buy. I am sure that the owners and Big Sam are working around the clock to get they players they want and could get some good ones should the rumours be true and the players willing.

3 Goal difference

Our goal difference is still fairly healthy at -6 while it’s not what it was a few weeks ago it’s still fairly good. This could be very helpful come the end of the season and could be the difference between staying in the league and relegation.

4 Big Sam

Sam Alladyce has never been in charge of a team that has been relegated. While he’s not everyone’s cup of tea, his track record speaks for itself. While we are in trouble right now, we’re not out of the game. Sam has many doubters; he has the experience and know how to keep us up.

5. Been there done that

The two David’s have been in charge of the club before in 2011-12. They know how damaging it is when a club goes down. They will not under any circumstances allow us to go down. I have no doubt that they want us to remain in the Premier League and will pull out all stops to make it happen.

6. Ravel Morrison

The wonder kid is proving to be a fan favourite, he is our highest goal scorer and I have bought a shirt with his name on it. Capable of the incredible and our best player so far this season, he will only get better as each game goes on. This guy will be what keeps us up this season. He is one of the best young talents in England right now and it is a joke he is not playing for England

7. Mid-season Break

Big Sam has taken the players to Dubai for the last 2 years to escape the “London bubble”. Each time this has been highly successful. The players are able to freshen up mentally and regain some focus, as well as enjoy some sun instead of freezing to death in London. This move is a secret weapon that we have deployed, and has seen a ‘bounce” in performances after this break. I expect the same this year.

We need some faith and to look at the ‘big picture’. As we can look at our list and look at the opposition and have some faith that we will not be going down, we will stay up.

Come on you Irons!!!

  • hammer says:

you forgot the most important point with nolan out diame and ravel can play football

  • Smudge says:

You lot are living in cloud cuckoo land!!!!! Until the owners get some balls and get rid of BFSA we are going down the pan!!!!!! We have become a second rate club with second rate owners who only have one ambition but to line their own pockets at the long suffering supporters expense!!!!

  • Deano says:

Like your points, If only they were true. The David’s went down cause they failed to act, and it looks like it may happen again. I think SAMs alright, don’t get me wrong, but I think that record may go this year. New manager can ( for some reason) kick players up the ass! Pulis at palace. Poyet at sunderland. These are now our competitors for survival, not mid table security like we all thought. He plays Morrison out of position for Nolan. And Carroll will no doubt suffer a set back in a weeks time. F it though still claret n blue through n through.

    • Shane Haddow says:

Well when you make a mistake generally you learn from it. The owners know this and will act should things get worse.

Sacking a manager doesn’t work always, Harry Redknapp at QPR is a good example.

There is also a small gap between 20th and 10th so if your in the lower half I wouldn’t say your safe

All of the points in the article are valid. The number one reason for our position is injuries, as always. Historical. This is the reason for players out of positon & lack of goals. I have no doubt that will be addressed. We need a striker that can hit the ground running. 10 years ago Redknapp took Portsmouth from almost relegation to almost Europe in the last dozen matches. It can be done. This is the wrong time to change managers. We will not be going down.

  • Brian says:

We are in trouble and the manager still says he as done good buying a one legged ball player and what’s this crap about Ravel being a striker half the season gone and he has three to shout about. WAKE UP

    • Martin says:

As said above, Ravel has been played out of position, at best a false 9. He didn’t really get a full run the first 4 games.
He is good and Sam should have let him go up front. So much talent he would have put Carroll under pressure.

  • Will says:

Our best team is on paper a mid table team take Reid Carrolls quality and nolans goals out of the equation and this proves our team is barely premier league quality an aging goalkeeper mot overly convinced about rat not to comfortable defensively I think we are in trouble but on the plus side out strongest midfield 3 will start Saturday

Bollocks. They won’t ‘allow’ us go down? Dont talk daft, it’s not like they have a choice about it, all they can do to prevent it is spend some decent money and stop all the bullshit about ‘nearly’ signing this player and that player and ending up with out of contract players nobody wants

They have been up and down like a yo-yo with West Ham and Birmingham, they don’t learn anything. Always trying the cheap fix despite the fact it has never worked. Fatty won’t be offed until it is too late, again and that will be their fault

  • Johnny Mac says:

Well 5 pts out of the last 24 is not exactly great form Shane, and it’s not looking like the owners are not going to sack Sam, and if we only end up with another 3 pts from the next 4 games giving us a total of only 16 pts by the new year, then that is a heck of a lot of pts to make up in the 2nd half of the season. I mean the pressure could be relieved if we win the next 4 games, but with 2 of those 4 being against Man Utd & Arsenal then I just can’t see that happening, not going on current form anyway. To have to get 24 pts in the 2nd half is just too much, so they’d need to start performing from this Saturday onwards, that’s it, the rot really has to stop now or it will be a replica of QPR’s efforts last season, and as we all know, the pressure gets too great for any team, no matter who they are, but at least maybe there will be some positive activity in bringing in some players on loan from the MLS. This still leaves West Ham with having to get through at least the next 5 Premier League games, 1 League Cup game & 1 FA Cup game with just the 18 existing available players, with Nolan returning for the match v Arsenal, being: Jääskeläinen, Demel, McCartney, Noble, Collins, Tomkins, J. Cole, Morrison, Diamé, C. Cole, Jarvis, Adrián, Rat, O’Brien, Taylor, Maiga, Diarra, Collison.
How many points do you think these lads can win for us until after the game at Craven Cottage on 1st January? With a bit of luck we’ll have signings like Oba Martins & Clint Dempsey on loan from Seattle Sounders &/or others after that, but it’s how many points we’ll have to make up in the remaining 18 games that is the concern! To be a bit fair on Sam, a lot of strikers just don’t want to come to East London and West Ham and play 2nd fiddle to Andy Carroll, especially with the pressure on. There are a lot of good players out there but sometimes you just can’t get them!

Plus, I don’t know what Shane is talking about when he says freshen up during a mid season break. What mid season break? There is none. We’ve got Sunderland tomorrow. 3 days after that it’s Spurs in the League Cup, then 4 days after that it’s Man Utd at Old Trafford. 5 days after that at home to Arsenal on Boxing Day, then 2 days after that at home to West Brom. Then 3 days after that we are at Craven Cottage on New Year’s day, then an FA Cup tie 3 days after that, then a game every week from then on, unless we get knocked out of the FA Cup in the 3rd round. Then & only then will we get a 2 week break after 18th January. Is this what you are hoping for Shane? That we have to hope we get knocked out in the 3rd round of the cup for some respite for the poor lads. C’mon, break, what break? We don’t need breaks. We just need to roll our sleeves up “AND FIGHT LIKE HELL TO SURVIVE!!!

  • BigEd says:

Who’s to say we wont get more injuries? To just assume that everyone will come back and that’ll be it is a bit naive.

Who exactly will we be after in January? David Gold made it absolurely clear that we are ONLY looking for a loan deal.

So the two David’s will ensure we stay up eh? Pity they didn’t think of that in the last window when they failed miserably to get anyone in.

Ravel Morrison is a good prospect, he doesn’t control or influence games though, he will one day I’m sure.

We are in trouble, wake up and smell the coffee mate!!
