Hammers looking to Southampton and Arsenal this transfer window

Rickie LambertWest Ham are reportedly going in (again) for England international and Southampton striker Rickie Lambert.

According to Hugh Southon, of Claret and Hugh, Lambert is top of Sam Allardyce’s January transfer shopping list.

Lambert has played the majority of the season second fiddle to the Saints summer acquisition Dani Osvaldo and that could help the Hammers in their pursuit of the striker.

Despite not being first choice Lambert has managed a respectable eight goals and definitely fits the mould for Big Sam’s style of play.

A club source told Claret and Hugh: “Rickie has always been high on our list of preferred targets – we have to have better than we’ve got.

“But it’s about everything falling into place at the right time. If Saints get the striker they want, we have a decent chance on Lambert.

“We have about ten targets. Rickie is right up there. Another might well be Nicklas Bendtner were Arsenal to make him available.”

Go for it! But let’s be serious, if you valued Carroll at £15m and the whole world of football knows he’s useless, don’t bother bidding less than £ 35m for Lambert! Lol

  • Wags says:

Are you serious, second fiddle to Osvaldo. The later has hardly played although he will come good.
Lambert, Lallana, Shaw, Ward-Prowse etc etc etc are going nowhere. Nurture your own players!!

‘Having a bubble’ I think is the expression. Lambert will never come to west ham. Why would he leave a top half team to go to a relegation-placed laughing stock?
Time for west ham to get back down to earth and accept that they’re a yoyo club. Looking forward to the champ next season with a nice wagebill to keep growing that debt.

yer have a bubble there mate. West ham ain’t going down and if you are man enought than put your money where your mouth is. put up or shut up. COYI !!!!!! WHTID !!!!!!

Got to laugh! So scummers are enjoying a purple patch in their history, well done and good luck to them! But they are not Man U all of a sudden and should perhaps remember they were nearly out of the league only very recently! Instead of misplaced arrogance a little humility would go a long way! For despite the recent success Southampton are not a big club! And shouldn’t get carried away with themselves! Lambert etc will ultimately leave for bigger clubs if it suites them and Southampton like many other clubs in the prem would be powerless to stop them. When the big boys come calling the rest simply cannot compete! So I would ask you all to think on before making stupid comments as your top players could all be tempted away and you have plummeted through the leagues before!

Are west ham going on about 1966 still? It’ll be good when you’re back down in the champ. Delusional fans who are (wait for it) already booing fat Sam. Oh dear. We’ve seen this before. No amount of fraud/tevez will get you out of this one.
Good club but you’re the same as millwall/charlton ie just a local nuisance. I don’t think southampton are boasting. Look what they’ve done in 3 years and applaud them like the rest of us instead of living in your lie.

It will be interesting to see where Southampton are next year.. Once the bigger boys take your players you will be lucky to stay in the league. They have done so well to get to the position they are in, but west ham did the same last year and finished tenth. It makes me laugh when a club that dropped like a stone has a bit of success, they suddenly think they are the business and will beat everyone. What have they won? Nothing 😀

Are we talking last 20 years? Winning is a word west ham have to go back a long way in their history to appreciate it. 1999 still a big year. Interpoopoo cup.
    Massive team. Pipe down.

  • Hammer says:

Hammered you need to pipe down westham is a much bigger club than Southampton lambert is shit we don’t want him at westham 32 year old he is only playing for England because Carroll is injured when westham move in a couple of years time they will be like man city compered to the saints I’ve got inside information they have already been bought redbull can the saints compete with that Southampton shit club shit fans

  • Gebby says:

May I take you all back to the Southamptom v West Ham this season where the hammers support were singing “your support is embarrassing” 28 thousand and you are saying bigger club than WHU ….laughing stock !

  • the swindon hammer says:

if fat twat sam gets lambert then we arealready planning for championship football next season FOR GOD SAKE SULLIVAN AND GOLD GET RID OF HIM!!!!!!

  • Saint Tim says:

Saints have so far managed to keep hold of their assets – but I guess we will see what happens in January. We have a lot of young English talent that are creating these transfer rumours because they are performing so well. So credit goes honour youth policy.
As for Lambert, contrary to this report, he is a key part of our first team and has kept Osvaldo out of the team. Even at almost 32 he is proving he can still do a job at this level.
The main point that the posters seem to miss here is that perhaps yes, Saints may lose some of their excellent youngsters – but if they do go, they will move to top 6 clubs – and not a club in a relegation fight like WHU
As for Ricky Lambert – he still has an important role to play with Saints for at least another season and a half – so maybe then he may consider moving to the east end in order to boost his pension.

Difference between us and west ham is we have a rich owner,so no plummenting down the league for us 🙂
