Concerns over Ravel Morrison

Ravel Morrison celebrating against Norwich CityI’ve got to get this off my chest – and I don’t think it’s going to be a popular rant for West Ham fans to read – I’m actually getting annoyed at Ravel Morrison.

Morrison may have all of the tricks and flicks that make him able to get past players, but it’s no good if he hasn’t got the end product to go with it. Time after time against Sunderland I watched him amaze the crowd with his skills, dancing past the Black Cats, but he never had the finishing pass or shot accuracy to really make them pay. It was so frustrating to watch, and he’s starting to remind me of Ricardo Vaz Te last season when he was desperate to impress.

There’s also his attitude – although it has improved massively since his time at Manchester United, there are still flash points that really make me worry. He got a yellow for pushing Joel Ward in the face after our 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace, which should really have been a red card. That and his recent bust-up with Wilfried Zaha makes me think that if players taunt him, he will rise to it and West Ham will pay the price. Mark Noble has admitted that all of the players are frustrated, but Morrison is the only one that really concerns me when it comes to lashing out.

I may just be being overly harsh because of where we are the in the table, but I don’t think we have any room for selfish players at the moment – we need to pull together as a team. What do you think? Leave a comment or tweet me at @alwaysintune.

Totally agree with your item on Morrison and i have said this many times. Flicks and tricks please the fans but it is not enough, I also find him a bit greedy and does not always look to pass the ball when he should He is young and i think reads his own publicity, but that does not help our cause, This sort if guy will be loved by the fans and when he leaves which i am sure he will one day especially if we go down will be abused

What a load of crap darling Enjoy him while he’s with us because I doubt he will be playing in the Championship with us next season. I don’t normally comment on articles on here as the majority of them are pretty moronic but this one really pissed me off if you have nothing useful to say don’t bother

  • Will says:

How can anyone criticise him argueably our player of the season so far not that there is much competition , bare in mind he’s a 20 year old in his debut premier league season he’s been a ravel-ation (excuse the poor pun )

  • hammernut says:

What you think that he is going to turn into Messi or Mardonna in half a season?….get real the lads coming long fine…..what a stupid near sighted thread …

    • Hoops says:

Totally agree. Under a better manager with better tactics he would flourish. We may possibly never see the best if him unless we get rid of BFS. But that won’t happen because it would cost us £7m to get rid of BFS an his huge back room staff hense why he’s not been sacked already!

  • wolfie says:

He should be allowed to express himself on the field, surely this is what West Ham are all about. When Cristiano Ronaldo 1st played for Man U he was exactly the same but he matured into the class player we now see.Ravel will come good sadly it won’t be with WHUFC

  • Conk says:

The most creative talented player west ham have had for years. I’d rather watch a player with skill going past people doing flicks and tricks or whatever you call it lose the ball than watch an unskilled muppet hoof the ball forward to no one in particular and lose the ball

  • Joe Misquita says:

See u don’t cry if u play bad worry create more problems morrison is great player all the fan stop panicking and believe we can do it

    Moronic article

  • Taffyhammer says:

He can’t do everything by himself – yet. Rav is doing OK at the moment – coming along just fine. Give him a chance. When we play with a full team, that’s the time when the brilliance will show to good effect. In the mean time – Sir Trev could never do it all himself every game – have a go at Jack Collison. Now there’s a lad with attitude problems and failure to display application.

Clueless article, there are a hell of a lot more problems at the club and none are Morrisons fault

  • Dean says:

Pieces like this are ridiculous, he has been the only shining light for our pathetic season so far. I think your criticism should be aimed at the manager who refuses to play him in the correct position even when Nolan is out suspended. It was obvious after David Gold’s comment about finding his wife in the pool etc meant that BFS was never going to play Ravel in that position to prove a point to the owner! Seeing him sitting as a holding midfielder last Saturday was desperate, then what did the genius of a manager do, oh yes he plays him wide left!
But you are ready to chuck a real talent under the bus, a very odd piece indeed

    • hibs hammer says:

absolulutely Dean, to play our most creative player in front of the back four stinks of Sam either not having a clue or pig headidness, either way, the owners need to have a look at him at the end of the season.

enough of that, I am still revelling (or Ravel-ling!) in the great win over the “mighty” SPurs. man City then Wembley!!!!

  • Johntan says:

We should sell him. He’s crap.

  • trevor says:

Ravel is our only real player of quality at the moment, until Winston gets back. At 20 he is a massive prospect for us – whether he stays or departs, let’s enjoy watching him.

  • alan says:

class player for years to come, but must appreciate what mark noble and the rest are trying to install in him.

  • scott says:

he is going to special… too good for the shower of sh*t he currently plays for. just like every class player that has passed through upton park, we’re going to lose him soon because with the current manager we’re down. he”l be taking the p*ss out of west ham donkeys like collins and demel wearing another team’s shirt…then we’ll all be saying “if only we kept all the great players we had” bullsh*it. it is embarrassing being a wh fan at the moment… we are a laughing stock

  • anonymous says:

In the 30 years ive supported west ham its been one tragedy after another! Just naturally an embarrasing club which will never be successful! Just a laughing stock with no ambition. Learnt nothing from the avram grant debacle!!! Be honest if it hadn’t been for 1966 west ham wud not even exist cos Thats the only claim to fame!!!!!! PATHETIC!!!!!!!!

    • hibs hammer says:

are you really a fan anonymous (or a sore Spurs fan)? What about the FA Cups and the fact that I believe we were the last team to win a European Cup with all English players, what about Hurst, Moore, Brooking, DiCanio, Cole (Lampard, Ince), John Lyall, Ron Greenwood.

  • eddie says:

-there’s no doubt that ravel is a great talent , but it takes time to be all things in midfield. At the moment his ability to beat players must be used further forward – he must try to get into the penalty area – he and Joe Cole should both be getting into the area to support the one striker ( using the term loosely ) –

  • Dean says:

Mr anon if you think anybody is stupid enough to believe you are West Ham then you are a fool.

  • bubbles says:

Ravel and Winston are the only 2 players that would get into any of the top teams squads . Stop writing crap about Noble for England etc etc and watch the team every week . Support the players that deserve it and stop going on about players that are not good enough …Tomkins,Noble, Nolan .
