Time to drop this West Ham ace?

Jussi JaaskelainenJussi Jaaskelainen came under unusual attack by Sam Allardyce at the weekend, following the Finnish goalkeeper’s clanger against Norwich City, allowing the Canaries back into the game by conceding a penalty. Norwich obviously won the game 3-1 when the Hammers were in total control up until Jussi’s mistake.

I’ve always maintained that JJ is a superb shot-stopper at Premier League level, and that hasn’t changed. However, in the past I have raised concerns about his all round game, involving his distribution of the ball, and his handling of the ball. Its not often we see Jussi catch the ball first time from a cross or a weak shot, and this has always been an issue for me.

I don’t think Jussi deserves to lose his place after just one mistake though. He has kept us in many games over the last two seasons. Even the best keepers in the world have made errors, and its part and parcel of being a goalkeeper. One mistake will always get highlighted if it leads to a goal. Look at Joe Hart, he has made a lot more mistakes and has kept his place as England’s No1.

Its good to know that we have an able deputy in Adrian, who has looked excellent in the few appearances he has made in the Capital One Cup, but for now, Jussi should keep his place, and anymore mistakes, then maybe its time for the veteran keeper to make way.

COME ON YOU IRONS!!

Nope but review at end of season. We are in deep enough shite without changing the keeper.
2 months of Collins giving away needless free kicks is the more pressing issue!!!

Sam Allardyce did make a lot of Jussi mistake but most managers are the same they want praise when the team is going good then on bad runs they dump shit on the players Sam can huff and puff all he likes he’s the one who has stuffed up and blaming individuals is not going to save he’s arse

The only player BFS should drop is Nolan. Every game he gets selected and rarely gets substituted despite his poor contribution to the team. He is a passenger in the side.
The sooner he gets dropped the better it will be for us…….as 11 players must surely be better than 10!
Better still get rid of BFS and Nolan……..

All this focus on Jussi is unacceptable.

He has made ONE mistake….he will do for the rest of the season, especially as Adrian looking very dodgy away at Burnley.

The focus should be on the skipper, we cannot continue to carry Nolan, he is a waste of a position – play Petric, with two wingers and Ravel in support. Then Diame can partner Noble in midfield. Simple

Nolan got to get dropped before jussi & maybe try lee up top for a game if we have no fit strikers?

I didn’t see it properly but it appeared that one of the Norwich players made contact with the ball as Jussi was about to catch it, although that does not excuse him for trying to chase the ball down & foul the opposition. But it’s only one mistake. Can’t say that I’m over the moon with his positioning for free kicks though.
I agree that Nolan has lost a huge part of his game but he is not getting the knock downs which he feeds on when Carroll is around.
