Mohamed Diame – What is going on there?

Mohamed DiameMohamed Diamé hasn’t started the previous two West Ham United games. Since the Capital One Cup victory versus Burnley, Momo has missed the home draw versus Aston Villa and the away defeat against Norwich City,

Is this exclusion purely tactical? As a Sam Allardyce signing, and still very much a focal point of the team, until recently, you would expect Diamé to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

The recent inclusion and uprise of Ravel Morrison into the first team may well have forced Diamé out of the squad recently. With six midfielders in each starting 11, you would still expect to see Momo Diamé amongst those midfielders.

Even Jack Collison, who was loaned out to AFC Bournemouth earlier this season, started against Norwich. Joe Cole has also recently been favoured in the midfield 6.

In a season that has been uninspiring, Diamé has been rather average at best. Only Ravel Morrison and Mark Noble have shown any real progress from last year.

I feel that Diamé is only out of the starting 11 on a temporary basis. With such a vast amount of midfielders (which holds the most experience and talented part of our squad), squad rotation is necessary. It is almost certain that more of the midfielders will have a few starts on the bench in the coming weeks, and this may have little reflection on their current form, as at the moment nobody is particularly out performing the others, with the exclusion of Noble, who is arguably in the form of his career.

So, to clarify, Momo will be back starting soon and as a player who struggles with completing 90 minutes, he will also be substituted in that time. That’s the way the game goes, especially when such a vast amount of the squad are competing for the same (or similar) roles.

mo diame had a falling out with fat sam.. diame does not like playing on the wing or up front… he came straight out and told fat sam this. fat sam wasn’t pleased about it and told diame that “i am the boss and i’m in charge here” he reinforced this by playing diame for the last minute of the aston villa game. long story short, fat sam is a moron and needs to go

Couldn’t agree more- what actually makes more sense if to play Diame in midfield central position and then let Cole or Ravel play more upfront- I see both as having the ability to hold the ball up- if we play to feet- if we revert to long ball / high ball then there is nobody capable of doing this- Nolan only plays well when he gets knock downs- but who sais the others would not do equally as well but also put more effort into creating space and running.
We must pick what we have based on form- Is Nolan really in form???????????

When carroll returns, have Ravel partner carroll. Midfield of jarvis, noble, Joe cole and downing. Then wé still à réal forward.

It was a falling out over his lack of effort in the burnley game , the reason mono always gets subbed is because he has a heart condition so finds it hard to complete 90 mins I would have downing noble diame Morrison Jarvis as my preferred midfield. 5 with joey cole coming on get rid of Nolan ASAP and SAM can go if he keeps up with this stupid. 4-6-0 tactic

Any regular watcher will clearly see that Diame fades badly at the 70 minute mark. He has NEVER given a solid 90 minutes and in my book Allardyce has been right to leave him out in favour of others after some pretty quiet and uninspiring performances.

However, I would much rather Diame starts for 70 then Nolan gets the last 20 as a Nolans contribution has been woeful. Some hope there im afraid !

Yes, what is going on here? Isn’t this the man who scored the deciding 3rd goal against the Europa champions in our 3-1 win against Chelsea last year? and also the same man that Sam & the club fought tooth & nail to stop from being poached/bought in the previous January transfer window. It’s no good if the manager has spats with the palyers. I don’t know what is going on, but in a different article someone asked “What is it like being a West ham fan right now?” and someone answered “this is the worst that they have felt in 40 years and won’t be renewing” well what are West Ham fans going to feel like, if after this next game against Chelsea, and mighty Mo is not selected, and after this game, West Ham still have the same 10 points as they are on now, and Sunderland and Stoke both win. How are people going to feel if that happens, which based upon how things are going at the moment, is a strong likelyhood. Has Sam lost the dressing room? Are players rebelling? Lets have the truth West Ham, because admit it, this club, right now, is up shit creek!

All is ok we’ve just got a new MD and this is far more important than whether Diame starts, and John last year was last year and not now, remember how we thought big clubs would be after him now we cant give him away.

  • John Barry says:

Well well, I‘ve just noticed that Sunderland play at Stoke on 3pm on the same day as West Ham play Chelsea at 5.30pm, so sorry Toby & Brian, what I should re-phrase my thoughts to are “How will West Ham fans feel if Mohamed Diame is dropped and we get no points at home to Chelsea, especially if Sunderland win at Stoke and Fulham win at home to Swansea before the game against Chelsea at the Boleyn ground even kicks off? Then West Ham will once again, drop into the bottom 3. How will West Ham fans feel then on the Saturday evening of 23rd November if this happens? Or, should action be taken now, eg a pre-emptive strike, if you get my drift.

  • John Barry says:

It’s probably more likely that Stoke & Fulham both win and West Ham joining Sunderland in the bottom 3.

  • John Barry says:

Even only draws by both Sunderland and Stoke would move them both above West Ham before West Ham even kick off, so West Ham, for their own sakes, need to win against the Europa champions? to keep the pressure off of themselves, if in deed it is not already on them big time! I’ve supported Sam until now, but a change may be necessary.

  • John Barry says:

Sorry, I’m out of here. I should have said draws by Stoke and Fulham. With the Hammers joining Sunderland in the bottom 3.

  • Dave says:

Because we have two positions with poor cover, Central striker and right winger, Mo has had to play out of position, this takes a player time to adjust and is unsettling. We will struggle until January if club invest, or Andy Carroll is fit on form and ready for Hammer time.

  • Deano says:

I think Nolan should now be dropped , the chances against villa & norwich would of been buried last season, Nolan is struggling this season I know he is a leader but it doesn’t earn a starting position…It is time to start with a striker as teams r figuring out our tactics far to easy…. Well needed international break to sort out what to do next ..COYI

  • Bozzy In Exeter says:

Agree with Big Sam, I would drop Diame too I think he has been poor this year and us just going through the motions. I expect him to be gone in the January transfer window.

  • Hammer says:

Bozzy are you off your head sell mo in January?fuck Nolan off he is shit bring in ba or Defoe
