Will Carlton Cole be welcomed back to West Ham?

Carlton ColeCarlton Cole’s return to West Ham is close to completion. With Sam Allardyce looking to offer the ex-Hammer a return to Upton Park to bolster his attacking options. It was reported that Cole looked set to sign last month but after failing to prove his fitness, the club decided to let the striker prove his fitness before signing back on.

When Carlton was let go I wasn’t against the idea. Last season he struggled to make any sort of impact in the first team and was kept out by the good form of Andy Carroll, so it’s safe to assume that Cole wouldn’t be back on the West Ham agenda if it wasn’t for the injuries that Andy has picked up!

Carlton won’t provide an end of our attacking problems in the long run, but I believe he’ll be the best thing we’ve got (for the time being).  Mladen Petric is still looking to gain first team fitness and Modibo Maiga hasn’t done anything to suggest that he won’t be sold as soon as reinforcements are brought in. So in a way I’m more than happy that Cole looks set to return.

West Ham fans witnessed the best and worst of Carlton Cole, but when he is on form he can be a real handful for the opposition defence. If you look back at our previous performances in the League; it’s painfully evident that we need some quality in the final 3rd and although many will ask the question ‘is Carlton Cole the man to bring that?’ This answer is yes…

Ideally we would have been able to sign a striker in the transfer window but the funds where not there!

My personal preference was to bring Demba Ba back or Romelu Lukaku but those deals were not finalised, so Carlton Cole’s return is now the best option we have and his return was always inevitable the moment we signed Stewart Downing.

Will Carlton be welcomed back by the majority of West Ham fans?

I have always thought Cole wasn’t up to the standard we needed but even I think he’s our best option. Respect to him for getting fit and coming back. I promise I won’t slate you (too much)

Carlton may not be prolific, but he does give 100% every time he pulls on the shirt. He offers more than Maiga, But then again who wouldn’t,

Carlton when fit & full of confidence is unplayable. He lives the hammers and wears his heart on his sleeve . Welcome back bigman prove the doubters wrong COYI

  • Andy says:

THE Whole team is not good enough Sam should go and a new team built round a manager who knows what he s doing

Carlton Cole is in a different league to poor old Maiga, and for that reason he must be welcomed back with open arms. We all know his limitations, but with Carrolls worrying tendancy to pick up injuries, he will be the nearest thing we have to a like-for-like replacement WHEN Andy is ruled out again. No, its a far from ideal situation, and the hierarchy need a good kick up the backside for allowing this to happen. The return of Carlton Cole will simply get them out of a short term hole until a classier striker can be found.

So typical of West Ham to send you from optimistic to shaking your head in disbelief…..its been the same for as long as I can remember so whats new !!!!!

Of course he will be welcomed back. We need to clutch at any straw going at the moment. Desperate times, desperate measures. Cole has a point to prove and also needs to put himself in the shop window, hopefully its a win win all round. However the whole West Ham situation is laughable and BFS has to shoulder some blame, I really struggle to see where our next point is coming from.

Yes of Course! But only because our Options are so Limited. As for Loaning Collison out I Despair, When brought on his Impact is Immediate .and looks far more likely to Score than the so called Strikers!Just like Stricktly Come Dancing. ITS A DISSASSTER!!!

Cole was steadily getting worse and I also thought he was far too weak until you watch Maiga ! Cole is rubbish , which tells you how good Maiga is. Not one serious west ham fan believes that Cole will score enough , if any, goals. His fitness is not a worry , he couldn’t run , head, work or score before so how will we notice he is any fitter? And he will get injured as soon as he plays again. You wait and see.

  • the swindon hammer says:

honest player works hard but at the end of the day championship player will never score enough goals but still better than that wanker maiga and also to all those morons yes morons who were crying out for maiga to get a run of games last season where are you and what have you got to say now?
