Matej VydraRecent reports suggest that West Ham are in the hunt to sign Udinese striker, Matej Vydra. He spent last season on loan at Championship club, Watford where he impressed many.

I watched Vydra on a number of occasions last season whilst he played for Watford and I must say, I was really impressed with what I saw. As many would say, Vydra isn’t your typical Big Sam striker, as we all know Sam Allardyce likes a big man up front. However, Vydra could offer something different to the team and could form an exciting partnership with Carroll.

Vydra scored 20 goals last season in 41 games for Watford and linked up very well with Troy Deeney, which is why the prospect of Vydra linking up with Carroll sounds promising. Deeney is a big man himself and Vydra linked up very well with him, especially latching on to Deeney’s flick ons.

But, we all know that Allardyce likes to play one up front, so where would Vydra fit in? Something else we need to consider is whether he is good enough for the Premier League? Some will say he is and some will say he wont. The fee that Udinese are after could also be a problem.

Udinese want around £8m for the striker and do West Ham really want to pay out that much on Vydra? It has been made clear that West Ham would prefer to take Vydra on loan to begin with and then have the option to buy him at the end of the season so we can see whether he is Premier League quality. But Udinese don’t want to loan Vydra and will only accept permanent offers.

Vydra could prove to be a good signing for us if the opportunity ever came around but £8m could be a bit of risk. I would personally look for other strikers and move on from Vydra. Plus a deal doesn’t look likely anyway.

Bring him in!!! well worth the gamble, S&G will find extra funds to bring in top draw players.. The futures bright, the futures claret & blue COYI

I think he’s good enough, young and hungry aswell. The gulf between premiership and championship ain’t what it used to be, teams that come up stay up and teams that go down can stay down, we are one of the few that bounced back, mainly to new ownership and good choice of manager for the job. Vydra is just what we need! COYI!!!

Did Vydra turn up for Watford’s Championship play-off final against Palace? If he did, I never saw him.

    You have No Chance:
    1) £10m bid already turned down.
    2) He’s easily a top 8 club striker – that isn’t you is it?

So many strikers linked to westham, vydra is the most promising, vydra or emenike, I would prefer vydra as he is young, and use to playing in England! Natural goal scorer with pace what WHU need!he was championship player of the year.. If I was in charge vydra and hamad would be coming to the club!
