Gary HooperThe transfer of Gary Hooper to Norwich City has been confirmed, and that will be a bitter move for many West Ham fans as he was many of the fans prime target.

On the same day as that transfer was confirmed by Norwich, West Ham’s new top target Salomon Kalou has allegedly snubbed the Hammers in favour of West Brom due to Kalou wanting a more central role than was being offered by West Ham. However, Big Sam has confirmed we are still in advanced talks with Salomon but what will it take to persuade him to play out wide? Under the wage bill restrictions we couldn’t offer too much more of a wage increase so it depends on how persuasive Big Sam can be!

There is no doubt that the most exciting signings of a transfer window are the attacking players. There is also no doubt that West Ham could do with a wide attacker with pace and flair, which the former Chelsea man certainly possesses.

No doubt a few more targets will come and go in the meanwhile, some of which will be complete rubbish made up by newspapers. I still feel panic should not be starting yet as many signings happen on deadline day let alone the weeks leading up to the close.  We can only wait to see what Big Sam comes up with, let’s hope the new signing will live up to the high standard set by the likes of Savio and Pablo Barrera…

The one that got away-Garry Hooper would have been a perfect partner for our 15mill injury prone forward???.How can you ignore a player who as scored 31 goals in his last season at Celtic is 25 years of age and keep announcing that you are going for players that you have no intention of biding for.It was the same last year was it not??????.

Very true…..we keep getting mugged off season after season….the side has no pace and no goalscorer …. Bony would have been perfect for us.

Kalou, Vydra or Varela would be good signings. I do hope the blogs about Lambert and Odemwiguie are wide of the mark as old players on big saleries with no resale value are not the way forward.

      Sod the re-sale value.

I can never understand why there’s such a fuss about getting young players for the future, the only future that matters is Aug 17 and the following 10 months.
