Alou Diarra or Scott Parker?

|

Alou DiarraWith news circulating these past few days; that Tottenham Hotspurs’ Scott Parker could make a return to Upton Park, is this news that should excite many West Ham fans?

Leaving back in 2011, Parker was a hero for West Ham, known for his extraordinary work rate and desire. Although some fans have voiced their displeasure at the return of Scott after the player chose to join rivals Tottenham Hotspur in a controversial move. Personally I don’t hold any resentment towards Parker for leaving, he isn’t getting any younger and in order to maintain his England spot; it was inevitable he would have to leave for a Premier League side.

The first things that springs to mind on Scott returning is quite simply, is he needed? The midfield area is currently very strong and we have improved since Parker departed.

This brings me to Alou Diarra, after a controversial first season in England; it was conceivable that he would leave after fallout with the club; as the player felt he wasn’t given the opportunity to prove himself, the public outburst saw Alou sent to France for the rest of the season. With many speculating on where he’s future would be come September. Recently Diarra stated his desire to fight for his place at West Ham and prove any doubters wrong, so it would appear that West Ham will retain the services of the French international.

This is good news regarding Diarra, a player with much experience domestically and internationally; he has much still to offer.

If Parker does indeed return, it would seem that a battle would take place between Diarra and Parker for a first team spot, a couple of years back Scott would have made the first team; no problem-but that isn’t the case anymore. Since leaving he has struggled with injuries and lost the England spot he worked so hard to gain.

Parker is now a fringe player at Spurs and looks set to leave, due to wages being high I say we take a miss on Scott Parker and allow Alou Diarra the chance he so desperately wants.

So far this pre-season Diarra has looked sharp and ready for action and if exploited he could prove to be an asset to the team.
