Would A Move Be Welcomed For This Former Hammer?

Scott ParkerBreak-ups are never easy. Whatever the circumstances, there’s always a feeling of emptiness when that certain someone walks out on you.

So we’d all admit to experiencing a pang of sadness when Scott Parker left to pursue his career in the glamorous Premiership, while we were left wallowing with the Championship dregs. It hurt to see him leave, and certainly to Spurs.

And then to see him marching out with the captain’s armband on was like seeing an ex with her new partner – a guy you always hated a high school.

But as with break-ups, time is a great healer. There’s always opportunity to move on, find someone else, and even reflect with fondness on the time together.

It can never be argued that Parker didn’t put in the hard yards when he pulled on the West Ham shirt.

His efforts and performances were recognised by fans and professionals alike. Although it could be argued he had made the England team while playing as part of a relatively poor squad, he was unlikely to maintain the highest levels while playing in the second tier.

My thinking is he behaved like a professional in all his actions, on and off the pitch, and deserved a chance to remain in the top flight. To his huge credit, he did go on to captain his country.

But I always felt he played with a passion and a determination because it is his job. He is honest and wants to do his best for his employers. That’s not a bland observation, as if more players across the board took their roles as seriously, there would be more respect from fans.

But I never believed it was a passion for West Ham, not like you saw pouring out of Julian Dicks, or Paolo Di Canio, or even in the way Mark Noble is starting to play.

He left, and eventually Diame came into our lives, and Nobes became more than just an understudy. We filled the void, and moved on.

As rumours circulate that he could be back on the market, it does prompt thoughts of “what if”. At the right price, a return could be a viable move. Even as a 32-year-old injury prone midfielder, he could be considered a better back-up in that central position than the departed Gary O’Neil.

And I think he would be welcomed back by the majority, but maybe more as a friend for old time’s sake, than as our first choice soul mate.

No.not a good idea..not just to do with him going to spurs but hes just not the same player he was a few years ago..all he has done while at WHL is just run around in little circles..times catching up on him and to sign him would be a step back not forward

Good player when he was with us, but now time to move on

I believe he could do a job in the right team although injury prone. But i believe for us there are more viable and suitable options. There are alot of young and Hungary players that could do the same job as Parker and even with time improve.

He could fit in but sane is a better player I’d like us to move on this season and sign better players

    In short NO!

Injury prone (wages for being injured), much older (injuries take longer to heal), but most of all as a supporter you need to feel that a player wants to play for the shirt and I could NEVER believe him again as the sulky way he left said it all.

Maybe an ambitious Championship club might take a chance on him.

No way. Wholehearted but very limited technically (I was of the same opinion BEFORE he went to you know who !!) Time to look for better, more creative players, because thats what we need now.

I can’t believe the short memories of some fans.
Parker almost kept us up single-handedly, 3 times Hammer of the Year, Football writers Player of the year.
All this crap about not wanting him anymore because he left to go to Spurs is ridiculous, remember the players, owners and board members are all temporary, the only ever present is the fans.

Absolutely NO – he left us when we needed him most & now he wants to come back when all the hard work to get back to PL is done. He thought he was clever by going to Spurs – let him stay there.
