Soccer star in courtRecently on Twitter I have encountered numerous tweets expressing an ambition for West Ham to sign Joey Barton.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

The midfielder currently playing in France after being ‘kicked out’ of Queens Park Rangers following a bust up with three Manchester City players in the dying moments of last season’s final game.

The controversial Englishman, for me, would be the most disastrous of signings, especially with us looking forward in an attempt to become bigger and better; how do people think we will do this with mediocre ‘bad-boys’ who are very likely to be sent-off and banned?
As the club look ahead, nearing the move to the Olympic Stadium and looking set to sign Andy Carroll, Barton would be nothing of ambition, but of a step back.
Yes, people argue that he’d be better than Gary O’Neil, however that would be on paper, and O’Neil has shown he is worthy backup with some glittering displays after Mark Noble sustained an injury.

Barton, should NOT be signed EVER!!!

What’s your opinion on the controversial player? And do you really think he’d benefit West Ham?

I would rather eat my own testicles than see him in claret and blue, and thats saying something as im vegetarian

  • hamster says:

Of all the players with all the potential to benefit the club, he is on the bottom of the list. We don’t need thugs, we need ball players.

    • geoffrey whybrow says:

some fans used to think the terminator, mad dog, psycho etc were thugs!!!

  • Max says:

He is entertaining to follow on twitter but I wouldn’t want to see him in a west ham shirt. I’d rather see younger players like moncur & Lletget get a chance than us signing players like Barton & Ambrossini

  • Ausie John says:

Agree with Max hopefully we can give 1 or 2 kids a go tomorrow, show the kids that they r not far from more game time next season cmon u hammers

  • Kernowhoop says:

A correction. He was not sent off in the ‘dying moments’ against Manchester City. It was well before then and with a lot to play for. Not very helpful for his team-mates.
He should go to West Ham.
    Another correction.
    He should just go.

    A grumpy QPR fan.

  • RICH says:

Joey Barton , fair enough he is a pro footballer , but underneath it all in my opinion he is Jeremy kyle fodder .
In my humble opinion he is a low life ,and I find it hard to understand any club including non league who would want to sign this thug .
He has had no end of chances . Go ON THE DOLE Joey and spend your day watching your underclass pals washing their dirty linen on Jeremy kyle .
If he came to west ham , The great Bobby Moore would be turning in his grave.

oi pussies…if sam wants to build a team that plays rough tough football with bullying tactics then i’m all for it. lets let the rest of the league know when you play west ham you go home with brusies..the new west ham way. kick shit out ya.

  • Nish says:

He can sod off the dirty cheating c**t

  • Paul Brown says:

Diouf mark II. Stay well clear of that nutball.

  • Casper says:

    Ben
To describe O’Neil’s performances as ‘glittering’ is complete and utter rubbish.

  • Paul Adams says:

John Moncur anyone? How did the song go? Let’s face it, we have always had ( and mostly loved) a nutter in our side. Ruddock. Di Canio. Dicks? Even our beloved Bonds could dish the beat when Brooking was breathed on. I am not saying Barton is a similar player, but Barton et al can/ could all be a little bit naughty eh? Let’s all not forget ourselves and get above our station. If there is any truth in report re signing Barton, I believe if he does sign, it will only be a stepping stone for a season to add some steel to our midfield for the immediate future. Alardyce has a plan. Use the experience to get us to the Olympic stadium and then grow. Yes we have an amazing academy- always have, but times have changed and beggars can ‘t be choosers. I have every confidence that we are are the verge of great things. Let’s trust a manager for once and not let those dreams and and die! COYI’s!

  • Rabbit hammer says:

the only place he belongs is under the big top in a 3 ring circus

  • Paul says:

I’m a QPR fan, season ticket holder.
I’d love to see Joey off our books, I’d love to see us rid of him, so I should tell you he’s a great player, misunderstood, etc.
Well I can’t. He’s no good and is damaging to any teams he joins these days.

Despite him saying he realised joining QPR was a mistake shortly after signing, having a hand in getting Warnock the sack, going several games last season without completing a pass, giving away goals that lost us at least 2 games, getting red-carded 3 times, playing so badly QPR fans eventually booed him off the pitch and almost single-handedly getting us relegated, there are still some QPR fans who think he’d be good in our team and that he’s misunderstood.

Barton is willing to take a substantial pay-cut to stay in Marseille, yet they don’t want him.

If any fan wants him in their club, they are very welcome. Many QPR fans are willing to drive him, free of charge to any club on earth.

    • the hammer says:

my sentiments exactly paul we do not need a loony loose cannon in our side id rather sighn jedward to play in midfield you are well shot mate

  • DAVID CRONIN says:

NO NO NO NO – Moncur & the various other nutters did work their socks off for the team! can anyone ever say that about this idiot – self-publicising & def self-delusional!

as with the kite flown about El-hadji Diouf think the owners would put their foot down (unless he is willing to pay us to play!)
