NeymarSilly season is just around the corner, which sees endless rumours most of which are totally ludicrous, and by the end of it, it leaves fans frustrated after their club has signed Emanuel Pogatetz.

The summer transfer window is a field day for us journalists as for three months, every rumour you hear gives you a “free story”. In this article I will look at the most ridiculous rumours to ever be linked to West Ham United.

1. Neymar- Now set to join Barcelona; the young Brazilian was once linked with a move to the east end of London on loan from what would be his then parent club Chelsea. The news broke all over Twitter and the media leaving fans madly refreshing NewsNow hoping and praying for WHUFC.com to make an announcement. Of course it didn’t come. Oddly most of these quite frankly unrealistic rumours are attack minded players the next is no exception to that rule.

2. Ronaldinho- Again a Brazilian superstar, again totally ludicrous and unrealistic. In a story run in the Daily Mail, or as I like to call it the Daily Fail, Ronaldinho would be the big name player to enter the Olympic stadium with, which considering we are moving into the stadium in 2016 automatically puts the story in amongst the fish and chip paper.

3. Beckham- David Beckham is one player who is often linked with a move to the club and back to his native east London. It again came to light last summer, with Gullivan wanting Goldenballs to front the Olympic Stadium move. Luckily for the Hammers Brady knew what she was doing and sealed it without him and in the meantime saved the club hundreds of thousands of pounds in wages. As much as all of us would love to see Becks rock up at Upton Park, it were honest a player of his ability was never going to get him in and again the link came in the same daft article in the Mail alongside Ronaldinho, which considering the legend retired last week makes this story a non-runner.

4. The return of the prodigal son- Carlos Tevez will for many of us always be a legend, after helping the Hammers survive on the last day at Old Trafford. Last season after the Argentinean announced he wanted out of Manchester City last season. Even though everyone knew it was clear that if he was going to leave it would be to his native home in Argentina. Rumours were aplenty on social media sites that he was about to return to the East end for an emotional return to West Ham; yet another rumour that has been smothered in Ketchup and salt.

5. Krasic and Elia- A rumour that I fell for hook line and sinker in all honesty. Krasic had just had a successful season at Juventus and despite heavy rumours linking the winger with a move, excitement grew on Twitter, Facebook and West Ham forum sites. Typically though like most of these rumours went up in a puff of smoke, with many fans saying it was just a way to “shift more season tickets”. The most likely however last summer, that ended in a damp squib, the pacy winger who eventually joined Europa League Wolfsburg left thousands of Hammers fans on the edge of their computer chairs. In tweeted an image of London on his website, before changing it to Germany, sparking frustration amongst the Claret and Blue army. In the end it all worked out for the best with Jarvis more than stepping up to the plate this season.

Let the crazy rumours begin, but with Allardyce wanting his business done early Deadline Day could be set to be a quiet one again. With a fee agreed for Andy Carroll and the Hammers completing the signing of Razvan Rat it appears Big Sam and the board aren’t allowing the dust to settle on the season before planning for next.

Come on You Irons!
