My West Ham Transfer Wishlist

Wilfried-Bony1After securing Premier League status and heading towards the summer transfer window, names are being rallied about regarding potential transfers. There are numerous players I’d love to see West Ham sign, but I also hope for a mix of youth and experience next season.

With our current striker issues there are two forwards who I’d love to snap up. My first striking option would be Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem who has scored 31 goals in just 28 outings this season. However his large price tag – touted to be around £13 million is a large concern along with his wages of which could be the best part of £70,000.

The prolific Ivorian has been labelled as the next Didier Drogba and has caught the eyes of some ‘big’ clubs with the likes of Chelsea on his tail. Bony has already stated in the press that he would love a move to the premier League; it’s now just a case of if we cough up the money, and can afford such hefty wage demands.

The second striker who I want to see grace Upton Park is Blackburn Rovers’ Jordan Rhodes who has shown in both the current Championship campaign, and during last season’s League 1 campaign with Huddersfield, that he knows where the net is. Any potential transfer is unknown; however I would expect a sum of around £8 million to be needed to get his signature.

I for one am a big fan of Rhodes and the Scottish international is a great young player with bags of ability that he could hone at West ham and become that deadly finisher that we have wanted for so long. Rhodes and Bony are two great strikers would know where the net is, so any move for those two would have my complete and utter backing.

However, it is not just strikers that we need, and we therefore need to move for some other players to strengthen other areas on the pitch. We definitely need wingers who have pace, skill and can whip in a deadly ball as well as having all the attributes to become a top class addition to our squad. By that I do not mean Cristiano Ronaldo, I mean a youngster who can develop himself at west Ham, or someone that us rather ‘out of our league’ as we cannot keep buying mid-table, average players if we aspire to become a bigger team.

It has been revealed that Nani could leave Manchester United, and it cannot just sail by us, I think we should have a look into a possible deal. The Portuguese winger would bring a lot of flair to the squad and to me, would be a brilliant addition.

In our defence there is a lot of space for improvement, but in my opinion we don’t have to look too far from home to find suitable replacements, and yes I do mean dip into the under-21s team and pull out the likes of Jordan Spence. As well as this, however I feel we should mix our youngsters with some experience, NOT someone like Emanuel Pogatetz however!

Next season we should try and play with Spence, James Tomkins, Winston Reid, and a new signing at left back. There aren’t too many left backs out there, and for that reason we may have to offer Dan Potts regular football throughout the season to develop him, although I find him and Spence unlikely players to fill weak voids in the defence as Sam Allardyce has subtly shown he doesn’t enjoy starting youngsters. With Guy Demel and George McCartney on our books we have suitable replacements for our youngsters do they get tired, and we also have Joey O’Brien who has had an impeccable season, thus could be rewarded with a permanent first team spot come the next season.

We also need a goalkeeper and I expect moves for Anders Lindegaard from Manchester Anited and Costel Pantilimon from Manchester City. I love Jussi Jaaskelainen as he has had a brilliant season in goal, however his time is near with his age, and we therefore need to find suitable replacements sooner rather than later.

Who do you want to see join us come summer? Realistically of course.

I’d like to see Jermain Defoe brought back. A top experienced Premier League striker, and it’s about time we all forgave him!

give Hendo a chance! I hate how we are not giving young players a chance (and at 25 or whatever he is still quite young for a keeper). Need a new average left back in order to drive the development of Potts

    Laughable

just a comment about Spence and Potts. … Spence has been impressive every time I’ve seen him over the last 3 seasons. He deserves more of a run out than he’s had. Imo there is great future value in that player. He also looks quick, strong, intelligent and his ability with the ball. … The difference between him and Potts is that Potts doesn’t look strong or quick. He still looks like a boy. Certainly his looks intelligent enough, can read the game and has bags of ability. but I think Potts needs time to develop physically before he’s blood in the first team. … Spence on the other hand doesn’t need that time.
I’d be upset if we spent any of our transfer kitty on a right back.

my mate is a big united fan and goes to see them quite often, despite living on the opposite side of the country. he says nani has been off the boil for a couple of seasons and fully expected him to be off loaded this year.

Potts will be WHU for a long time, you clearly know nothing… Exactly what our club needs to do – Breed young English players, such as Potts. It’s that, or we buy 30 y/o shite…(Pog)

I’ve been to see Leicester a few times this season as my mate is a season ticket holder. Kasper Schmichael would be a class signing. He is premier league class and head and shoulders above the rest of their team in terms of class. He is also so passionate and the West Ham fans would love him at Upton Park/Olympic Stadium. COYI

Andreas Cornelius, Schimeichal, Max Kruse and Olsson (blackburn), this could be a bit exspensive but i exspect alot of out goings which will just open both wage and transfer bracket.

  • Elliott says:

Honestly if u have even watched west ham this season, then yo should know that Jordan spence and Tompkins cannot play, we need experience in defence not youth. And why the fuck would Nani go to west ham what are u on, I mean, really, if u think that will happen your kidding yourself.

  • Elliott says:

Lol why did I put a p in tomkins, autocorrect
