Carlton ColeWest Ham striker Carlton Cole could play his final game in claret and blue on Sunday after a new deal hit a snag over wage demands.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

The Croydon born striker joined the Hammers in 2006 from Chelsea after various loan spells he eventually found a ‘home’ in the east end.

Before this season, where he has found opportunities very limited following the arrival of Andy Carroll, he was the clubs top scorer for consecutive seasons, culminating last season with his memorable strike at Wembley, his 15th of the season.

The striker reaffirmed his loyalty to the club by taking a 50% wage cut to remain a Hammer after the club faced relegation in 2010/11 season, something that reminded the West Ham faithful of his love for the club.

As a club I like to think that we praise loyalty and you can’t doubt that from the big man. When called on this season he has impressed, he came off the bench to spark the comeback against Chelsea as well as bagging a goal against Everton.

So does he deserve a new deal?

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

It’s a tricky one, as a player would he be willing to sit on the bench like this season? It’s clear the who David Gold, David Sullivan, Sam Allardyce and the fans want up top next season and unfortunately for Carlton it’s the player who has kept him out of Big Sam’s plans this season, Andy Carroll.

Cole’s contract for me relies heavily on the Andy Carroll situation. If he signs, which I think he will. I can’t see Carlton in the reckoning for a start. Something at his age he will want to be doing to further his career. With Leeds and Watford monitoring the situation, perhaps it would be best for his career to move on.

The 29 year old is technically a very good player, and I think he would struggle to fit in with Allardyce’s style and with Andy Carroll potentially joining, it may be best for him to move on.

We can’t deny him that; he has done too much for this club to stop his development. He would be a good back up but I just can’t see him wanting to be that. He recently posted on Twitter a picture of a pair of socks with the word ‘bench’ written on. He tweeted saying that he would wear them in the warm up. He is clearly unhappy on the bench and for that reason I just can’t see him staying.

Thank you for the memories Carlton, but for me it’s time to move on. I’ll never forget your Wembley goal.

Always believe in your soul…

Come on you Irons!

i have been carltons bigest fan but he wants 40k a week to sit on the bench, if he starts the majority of games next season we will go down, he is a 5 goals a season man at the top level now, his knee is in bad shape and i think its time to say thank you and move on

  • daz says:

he was also offered a good deal 30k and a squad role which was more than he is worth to us and has until tomorrow to sign it so he wants to leave

  • tony says:

I thank Carlton for what he has done for us and it’s time to get a quality striker in as second seaon is going to be a lot harder

  • ian says:

he wants 40k a week?seriously? And im alarmed he has been offered 30k!im sorry for those cc fans but he is not worth half of that.
When you could go after a charlie austin or jordan rhodes for less than 20k a week.Kenwynn jones for around that sort of wage packet aswell.
id take that 30k offered to cc and split it 50/50 between danny simpson and maynor figueroa giving us major upgrades at left back and right back.
I do find it frustrating some off the contracts we are currently paying players.i thought the gollivans were suppossed to remedeeing the ice age.
Nolan on 50k a week is another example of an absurd wage.matty taylor on over 25k a week is another alarming example.
For me (and this might be me being biased as a fan) but if the only way we can entice a player to upton park is by paying hige wages then said player can take his wage demands and shove them where the sun doesnt shine!A player should want to play for us because we are west ham.

    • Hammersam says:

I agree on Cole but your harsh on Nolan.

Hes been our top scorer from midfield. Not sure what else you really want. Rather pay Nolan 50k then have Joe Cole injured 24/7 on 60k.

      • ian says:

the joe cole thing is more fuel for my over paying players complaint rather than an argument in the favour f nolan.
while youre right and agree with you on nolans goals,my greivance with him is as such-he plays in the hole behind the striker, yet he offers nothing in the way of creativity, nothing in the way of skill, passing or workrate, for a midfeilder im willing to bet he is amongst the lowest in tackles made all season.si i feel 50k a week is is probably twice as much as what i personally feel he is worth.
imagine a pyer there that scored maybe 5 or 6 less goals there per season, yet that actually created chances for others, you would have a net gain on goals.
ive nothing against kevin nolan,i actually quiete like him,i just feel for 50k a week we should expect more and could get more

  • Dazza p says:

cole has to go,championship player at his best…

  • Andy says:

Stick him in at centre back! Probably score more goals that way!

  • tommy Haggerty says:

i say we get rid of him, he is a good player but not worth 40k to sit on the bench.

  • steve says:

Carlton Cole isn’t worth 5k a week let alone 40k ship him out I say!!!!

  • Dazza p says:

    cole is useless, and overated

  • MrKipling says:

    Sell the lazy cunt

  • Rob D says:

He is not technically a very good player. He is average at best. The ball bounces up off him every time.

He has been loyal & I love his 100% effort. Get real though, he’s never been a good player!

  • geoff says:

Carlton stayed and helped us back to the premier on lower wages!! look at those who ran away over the years!! he has the skill, the effort and commitment unfortunately he sometimes lacked the consistency we would like to see. but he always fought for the claret & blue shirt.

  • safhammer says:

We should keep him. Genuine love and loyalty for a club is a commodity worth securing.
And he is not that bad either, maybe a touch unlucky.

  • dave says:

i c,nt wait for the back of him . loyal yes but work rate on the pitch no . he will never chase a ball it must land at his feet

  • Paul Gaythwaite says:

How can u all say its time to move on he is a brilliant player I for one believe if he stays and gets games next season he will be top goalscorer for west ham without a doubt

  • Jack says:

    Technically limited!!

  • Juice says:

Not premiership standard nice guy loyal but…..we need to be ruthless let’s have success .

  • Wolfie says:

I met Carlton a few times the season we went down ,along with Tompkins Collison & Green he was truly devasted we were relegated. All four were determined to get us back up straight away, even though he was played out of position he always gave his max,he deserves to be shown loyalty by the club, somehow I don’t think he will.Good Luck CC wherever and whoever you play for next season, you deserve it.

  • Graham Lang says:

I think for he’s loyalty he should take over from k brady, now she is a waste of space.
