Where Will West Ham’s Points Come From?

|

Premier League badgeWell the end of the Premier League season is drawing ever closer for West Ham and it has been a bit of a rollercoaster. After a fine start, form has been a problem and our Premier League betting odds to be relegated have shortened, so I have been contemplating – “How many points do I reckon West Ham need for safety, and where will they come from?”

Well I personally think around 37-40 points should be enough to see West Ham safe in the Premier League this season as the bottom three clubs are all struggling and still have tough fixtures to come. 37 points is what QPR survived on last season which proves you don’t have to break the 40 points barrier to survive in the Premier League. However I do think West Ham will break the 40 points this season. West Ham are currently sitting on 33 points which is 9 points clear of 18th positioned Wigan and 10 points clear of 19th and 20th positions Reading and QPR.

So West Ham’s remaining 10 games and how I think West Ham will get on in these games:

  • ·       Sun 17th March – Chelsea (Away) – Lose
  • ·       Sat 30th March – WBA (Home) – Win
  • ·       Sun 7th April – Liverpool (Away) – Lose
  • ·       Sat 13th April – Southampton (Away) – Draw
  • ·       Sat 20th April – Wigan (Home) – Win
  • ·       Sat 27th April – Manchester City (Away) – Lose
  • ·       Sat 4th May – Newcastle (Home) – Win
  • ·       Sun 12th May – Everton (Away) – Lose
  • ·       Sun 19th May – Reading (Home) – Win
  • ·       Postponed Game against Manchester United to still be arranged (Home) Game – Lose

So if I am right with my predictions then that is another 13 points which would take West Hams final points tally to 46 on the final day of the Premier League.

Although that may be me being a overly optimistic West Ham fan, I see the majority of the final 10 games very winnable and should push us on to make a very respectable return to the Premier League.

Regardless of whether my predictions are wrong or right, West Ham’s main focus is to remain in the Premier League and in my personal opinion this has already been achieved.

Next season I would like us to push on and make some good signings during the summer and target being in the top 8 of the Premier League.

Personally i can see us getting a draw at Everton if they dont improve on their latest form. There are tensions inside that club atm which could work to our advantage. Other then that your predictions seem reasonable.

A little optimistic on Newcastle. And I think a draw with WBA is likely. So I’m at nine points, 41 for the year.

I think we’ll lose to Newcastle and Reading. No more than 40 points, and we’re far from safe at the moment. Too inconsistent.
