West Ham Feeling His Absence

|

Mark Noble James TomkinsThe Hammer of the Year, the son of West Ham United, the midfield maestro is missing, and I for one feel that we need Mark Noble back, or things could go pear shaped, very quickly. The recent loss over Chelsea only compounded this.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

The line was so high, it could have well have been on the opposition’s penalty box, Winston Reid and James Collins had no protection; you could hardly blame them for this fault. I’m a great fan of Gary O’Neil, when the midfielder is at his best he is quite dynamic and influential to the direction that the team takes, because he plays the role to sit in front of the defense and control the game. Though last weekend he was unable to do this, simply because of the hard task that he had to face at the weekend battling off players such as Ramires and Lampard. He couldn’t do this, but I feel that Mark Noble would have been able to control the game better than O’Neil. Noble’s absence gave little protection to the normally high line we play. The high line was far more noticeable in the Chelsea game as he was missing. This needs to change, or our relative safety of six points above the relegation zone could be becoming perilously close to danger.

You only have to see the impact that Noble has on the games he plays in to see the effect of an absence he will leave on West Ham United. When Noble is at his best, he can turn games inside out. The tempo he sets, the passes he makes, and the creativity he has to start up an attack from nothing, is at times, inspired. Though it is his defensive qualities that make him the player that West Ham fans love, his tackling, despite the relatively large amount of cards he receives, is almost perfect. The way he can break up opposition attacks, and also he has the ability put pressure on the opposition, forces the attack of the opposition to take alternate routes to goal. This is what we missed against Chelsea, as Demba Ba was able to wander through the West Ham United defense more than once, and despite our best efforts, I thought that it was inevitable that Ba would be on the end of his first goal against West Ham United since leaving the club back in August. Noble would have offered the protection that O’Neil just wouldn’t have been able to offer.

It is true that some West Ham fans are feeling disillusioned with Mark Noble, this is because they see his passing as too slow. Also the fact that his persistence to take the set pieces, especially from corners, just isn’t up to standard that the fans demand from Noble. While I agree with the statement that the corners that Noble takes isn’t the best, in fact they are no good at all, but I feel that every positive he can offer must be harnessed and used to take the side on to the levels in the Premier League that we are capable of. Noble is essential to the side, until, or unless we bring in a player of World Class ability, I hope that Noble holds his role in the team for some time, and I hope that he can go on to become a player that takes accolades in the history books. Noble has the passion, commitment and drive of any West Ham United supporter, due to the fact that he is one himself, and he shows this on the pitch. Not many players at the club play with the same levels of intensity as Mark, and if they are playing at the same level it is merely due to the high motivation that Mark gives the team.

Mark Noble’s absence will cost us points and it already has, but I do think that with two wins, beginning at home to West Bromwich Albion, we will be safe come May 19th.

Sorry bud but I can’t share your passion for Mark Noble. His lack of pace scares me to death. He gives away far too many free kicks around the penalty area. He even gave away the penalty against Villa. People say that he covers more ground than any other midfielder but the top four or five teams rotate their midfields & other players. He does make some good tackles & passes but no more than most other defensive midfielders. After all, it’s his job to do exactly that. With reference to the Chelsea game, Hazard & Mata would leave him standing. We need a more pacier midfield than we currently have in Mark Noble. Being West Ham through & through makes no difference. He needs to work very hard on improving his pace.

Ridiculous comment, he rarely gives away free kicks around the area. Maybe 2-3 years ago but ive rarely seen them this season and last season. So what he have away one pen in his whole career. Actually, opta stats showed before he got injured he made more tackles then any1 else in the premm had covered more ground, he plays more passes then anyone else in our team and is the only one who can retain the ball in our center mid. If mata and Hazard would be o good against him why did he play so well in a 3-1 win against them where Hazard did nothing all game. Unlike others he wouldve put an actual tackle in the same against spurs, you really think he would give bale that much time to shoot and give the ball away that much?
