Time For West Ham To Freshen Things Up

|

Since West Ham got promotion to the Premier League Sam Allardyce has kept the same formation and mentality throughout pretty much the whole of the season, and defensively it hasn’t worked too bad with the likes of Winston Reid showing their brilliance. However not quite the same can be said about the attack and so the question must be posed whether we have to freshen things up or continue in the way that we play.

In my opinion we definitely have to freshen things up in the forward areas and we probably should have done it a bit earlier on in the season and I think that we have to start with a formation change, as the 4-2-3-1 is a much too defensive formation for games against teams like Aston Villa and QPR, in which we didn’t get 3 points in either game.

For too long we have seen strikers such as Ricardo Vaz Te and Modibo Maiga stuck on the wing when played and Wellington Paulista and Marouane Chamakh hardly featuring (if at all), with us being left with either just Carlton Cole or Andy Carroll on their own, and this wouldn’t bother me if we were getting plenty of goals, however we aren’t and therefore things need to be changed.

I feel that we need to change to the 4-4-2 formation and play more free flowing football. The game that we play with Carroll as the target man and not having many other attacking options not revolving around him is clearly not working.

If we are to change our formation then this could allow the players on loan a way into the starting line-up, as Chamakh clearly struggled on his own and Paulista hasn’t even been given a chance, along with these players I think that it would allow Vaz Te and Maiga to be a lot more competitive in getting into the team and I feel that West Ham’s attack could be given a new lease of life with the change.

We don’t need any strikers on the wing with the likes of Joe Cole and Matt Jarvis in the squad and so there is no excuse for needing them on the wing and they should definitely be pushed up front.

Lets face it , this has been the most boring campaign I have ever seen. The Chelsea second half aside I have never been so numb watching west ham this season. The formation stinks with the slow one paced midfield ,negativity away from home is ridiculous .If we did not get that easy start we would be bottom .Sam must go we are the new stoke. He has done a job getting us up but he is so one dimensional with no plan B . His substitutions are mind numbing. He has taken off diame from winning positions three times and we have lost.Maiga looks sharp and can finish but never plays?french international loaned out?wellington?wally downes? Come on he has to go I’d rather get relegated and enjoy the football then watch this shit.We could still go down and then he would have to go.If you do not agree with me go down to specsavers and do me a favour!

I would like to see an interchange of tactical awareness in the line of attack during the course of each game. This would avoid being a’one trick pony’ and keep oponents guessing.
