Straight Back Into The West Ham Starting XI?

|

George McCartneyWith George McCartney back from injury should he go straight back into the starting XI for West Ham’s game against West Brom?

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

It is unclear as to whether or nor McCartney will walk straight back into the team due to Joey O’Brien’s great performances as of late. But with him being a right back, maybe he won’t have to leave the first team.

In my opinion I would like to see McCartney return to the fold sooner rather than later, in his primary left back role, and then push O’Brien to right back, a role he is more accustomed to, in place of Guy Demel who lacks some basic defensive knowledge. Disagree? Look at the Frank Lampard goal on Sunday or the play-off final when Matt Philipps nearly opened the scoring; when Jussi Jaaskelainen calls for the ball Demel still knocks it out for a corner when he has all the time to control the ball.

We have been rocked by injuries as of late, but Sam Allardyce must overcome these problems if he is to ensure his contract is renewed come summer. This is my ideal team for our current situation.

Jaaskelainen

O’Brien           Collins              Reid        McCartney

Demel           O’Niel

Collison

Vaz Te                                                       Jarvis

Carroll

The reasons as to my selection are clear; injuries. With Kevin Nolan, Joe Cole and Mark Noble all out, we need a quick solution to our problems, or defeats in the upcoming games against West Brom and Liverpool, could drag us into a relegation ‘dog fight’, I have no doubt in my mind that we will avoid the drop, but I do feel that the run in to the end of the season could be a nervy one if results don’t start going our way.

    Move Demel to midfield?
    Assume you mean Diame

Agreed. If McCartney is fully fit I would bring him back in. Our best and most solid full back in my opinion and a left footer a left back is always nice!

Unless you know something about Demel’s silky skills in midfield, assume that was a slip of the finger. Of course McCartney should come back in as a natural left sided player, but O’Brien to right back, Demel is not PL standard. Would not start Vaz Te, I think his attitude is in doubt & he does not appear to be up for a battle. Probably better playing a hungry youngster, Turgott looks useful.

  • James the Hammer says:

Surely you’ve gotta play Diame in CDM over Demel?

  • Bozzy In Exeter says:

Demel, Vaz Te & Taylor aren’t PL quality & must be for the chop this summer, could never understand why Demel was given a new contract. To me we lack quality in midfield & up top, Carroll & Carlton Cole are not good enough and to me we need an end of season clear out. Relegation….. Possible but Big Sam has never taken a team down instead he has been sacked by clubs and following that they have been relegated, we must not make the same mistake as Bolton, Blackburn & Newcastle.#COYI

sorry everyone I meant Diame in midfield not Demel haha! sorry for any inconvenience

For menu think joe cole to play behind Carroll but then cole has more abolity out wide rhen what colliskn does so maybe keep him behind carroll put cole instead of vaz te out wide would not start vaz te as he has been dreadful and is not up to the challenge don’t think oneil should start either noble in there for me
