Worst West Ham Players Of Recent Years

|

David Di MicheleWe haven’t really had our fair share of greats during recent years but we have had several flops and here’s my top 5.

David Di Michele – how absolutely dreadful! Where so start? Well, he scored 4 goals in 30 appearances for West Ham, and it was very fortunate that manager Gianfranco Zola didn’t snap him up permanently after he was loaned from Torino. Didn’t we get lucky?

Di Michele starred for us under Zola during the 2008/09 campaign. We scored only 80 goals between 2008 and 2010, and you can see why, with Zola snapping up players like Di Michele.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

Tal Ben Haim – wow! Well he played for us during the 2010/11 season which saw us go down under Avram Grant.

Grant signed the fellow Israeli on loan from Portsmouth, and he went on to play in only 8 games.

A poor defender who was usually out of place and didn’t help us during our relegation scrap in any way, especially beside Matthew Upson!

Luis Boa Morte – after signing from Fulham, many of us thought he’d be a great addition, flair, pace, and a goal scorer, but the Portuguese winger was so poor.

The worst thing about him was that he was ours for a total of four seasons, playing 91 games and scoring 2. How annoying, and this is why West Ham don’t waste their cash nowadays.

Poor signings like him end up costing us decent additions these days. Poor player. Poor singing. Glad he’s gone? Yeah same!

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Benni McCarthy – oh my goodness, his wages went on food, and in 11 appearances, he scored a whooping total of … oh wait, he didn’t score did he? Another waste of money. Another waste of time. Fortunately, on his debut he got injured. For six weeks, or we could have been in a mess.

A deadline day signing during the 2010/11 season, and he was yet another un-motivated, poor playing professional on our books. Looking back on the team, we deserved relegation, and it’s the best thing that has happened for us in a long while, simply because it gave us a kick up the arse with time wasting players like him.

Savio Nsereko – it’s laughable that we signed him. Savio’s career consists of 3 goals between 2006 and 2013, and this guy is a winger that also plays upfront!

Tipped as one of Europe’s greatest youngsters, we signed him for £9m thinking he was a bargain! Brescia must have been laughing all the way to the bank.

Making 10 appearances and 1 start he was such a flop. What on earth possessed manager Gianfranco Zola to sign him? Nobody will ever know.

Ever seen the film Fargo? Well watch it then read this again; Savio Nsereko was arrested by Thai police after staging a kidnap and demanding £25,000 as part of a ransom.

What a failure, end of.

zola didn’t choose half of those players, it was that dickhead chief executive whose name i can’t remember

No room for Luis Jiménez? He was worse than all those 5. He was absolute toilet.

I always thought Luis had a great voice?!?!

  • Hugh Bevan says:

I think it is a tad harsh on Boa Morte. Most of his appearances from the bench and he wasn’t and isn’t a striker so the goals aspect is a harsh reason to criticise him.
    Others I agree with.

Boa Morte ??????? No way. At least the bloke had some fight and effort in him…he may not have been the best we had but he never came out and shirked (Vaz Te are you listening ???) I agree with Hugh…its tough coming off the bench and making an imprint on a game.

No chance was Boa Morte that bad! He gave the team a bit of spine, Tevez may have scored the goal to keep us up, but if you remember Boa Morte added a lot of fight to that team, who otherwise would have been worse. Di Michele wasn’t that bad, judging in terms of goal scoring he’s still probably going to do better than Carroll. The worst player I have seen in a West Ham shirt in recent seasons is Lars Jacobson, who was in the relegated team of 2011, he was woeful.

SPOT ON. Boa morte was a warrior in the relegation fight and then slowly deteriorated into titus bramble. Di Michele was the best forward we had !! even Ilan and Franco made carlton cole look terrible. Zola was just a shocking manager simple as that. He let everyone walk all over him. Although he signed Diamanti, why didnt the man EVER get 90 mins ?
Zola n Grant = useless.. i didnt like the Carroll comment though..

  • Anne says:

Boa Morte gave his all, Unlike some, And we are still signing players that do not want to or are fit to play for the shirt
