FIVE Replacements For West Ham’s No.1

|

Jussi JaaskelainenI think I speak for nearly every single West Ham fan when I say that, Jussi Jääskeläinen isn’t the man for the job in-between the sticks at Upton Park. Although he is yet to make any monumental blunders this season, I personally get nervous whenever the ball goes near the man. At 37 years of age I presume this will be the Finnish keeper’s last season as regular in the first team, so here are 5 goakeepers I think West Ham should look to sign.

Are you on Facebook? Excellent, so are we http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

1: Ali Al-Habsi. The Wigan Athletic keeper continues to impress this season, providing heroics in the net to help the Latics stay in the top flight. Playing behind a weak side he can’t be expected to have an amazing record but he performs to a high standard and at 31 is in his peak right about now.

2: Simon Mignolet. The 24 year old Belgium plays for Sunderland and is rated as one of the best upcoming goalkeepers in the Premier League. With fantastic reflexes and a commanding presence, Mignolet could be one to look at, especially given his very young age. Although the price tag could be a hurdle as I would expect it to be around the 8 million pounds mark.

3: Jamie Jones. Leyton Orient’s number one is an outside shout from me. At 23 years old he has a lot of room to grow, but has played outstandingly for the O’s when he has featured this season after a shoulder injury. Perhaps one for the future, as it remains to be seen whether he could cut it at the top.

4: Kasper Schmeicel: The Leicester City number 1 hasn’t exactly lived up to the name, but nevertheless is a talented young keeper who would be worth looking at as his price tag shouldn’t be too high.

5: Anders Lindegaard. Although unlilkey, Lindegaard could be up for a move away from Old Trafford if they bring in Reina or Begovic as reported. If either of those are brought in and De Gea stays then it would be worth a bid.

Are you mad? What about Craig Gordon on a free

Jussi is more shaky than a cocktail waiter.

I think we all can agree that juusi’s best days are behind him! That’s the easy bit! Finding a decent replacement and at a price we can afford is the tricky bit! Especially when you consider the distinct lack of quality alternatives! Gordon for one we can rule out due to his terrible injury history. Too much of a risk and finished! The other four well, for one reason or another are non starters too. They are either not good enough or pie in the sky! If he wasn’t such a money chasing judas whose confidence is shot, I would have said rob green?! Where’s Shaka when you need him?!

with all the extra TV money coming in this summer(If West Ham remain in the Prem), surely the Daves will be able to splash a bit of cash on a decent ‘keeper?

Europe is awash with clubs desperate for a bit of cash….

Marc ter Stegen. Gladbach keeper. Really young, unbelievably talented.

  • Peter Simon says:

What about Robert Green? I’m sure he’ll be looking to stay in the EPL once QPR are relegated (hopefully West Ham will still be in the top flight).
