Alou Diarra Drama Adds To West Ham Woes

|

Nicky Maynard, Alou DiarraWest Ham United are in danger of relegation and should address all the issues they are facing to keep themselves from falling into the Champonship. Among the woes that the Boleyn Ground-based club is facing are transfer market frustrations, injuries, and chemistry. One of the hottest West Ham subjects right now is French footballer Diarra, who is in hot water for the remarks he made against his former club. In an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, he said that his time was wasted with the Hammers after signing with them last year. West Ham fans were stunned while manager Sam Allardyce was surprised. The manager quickly downplayed the issue saying the defensive midfielder’s case is common in any football club. Still, the manager assured that he will make the necessary actions to apprehend the French footballer.

Allardyce brought in Diarra from Marseille to complement Kevin Nolan and other midfielders. However, his promising EPL career was jeopardised by injuries. Diara was with West Ham for four months and three of those were spent on the sidelines. Things like these happen. Now, Diarra’s case haunts the entire team. Amidst the controversy, Kevin Nolan and company should address other problems such as their chemistry. Collectively, the club performed poorly, especially in defence. In their 5-1 loss to Arsenal, many pointed out their lack of communication in stopping the Gunners’ offence. Maybe Nolan can work a little magic again.

When he was still with Newcastle United, he said in an interview that poker helped his team work well. Forget about the Diarra fiasco and instead create a more cohesive unit outside the field. Football is a team game and they will feel at ease with each other by playing poker since the game is fun and entertaining. Players can use poker to get to know each other better. The card game can also bring out the competitiveness in them. It is a strategic game with styles and skills that are similar to football. A player should be able to read the moves of his or her opponents. The good thing is poker is very accessible these days. Players can try online sites such as www.PartyPoker.fr since they are available on smartphones. The website offers games that are as good as the real deal, so players won’t have to worry about the quality. They can also play while on the road or before the tip off to relax and improve their strategic thinking.

Diarra’s statement should be treated as an isolated case. The EPL still has four months before the end of the season, hence, it’s too early to determine who is going to drop to the Football League Championship. The Hammers should work on what is left and focus on the games ahead. Let Allardyce sort out Diarra’s grumpiness while players on the field do the rest.

Diarra should be ashamed of himself. My six year old acts the way Diarra did and a serious Time Out is in order. Diarra should have been treated with disdain until he apologized and begged for a chance to come back. Much can be learned by the way Mancini handled Tevez and Clarke has handled Odemwingie.
