‘Pay As You Play’ Deal for Nicolas Anelka?

|

Well it isn’t the first time that West Ham have been linked with a move for French striker Nicolas Anelka. The 33 year old has vast Premier League and European experience after a high profile career with the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Chelsea.

With a career total of 152 goals in a credible 471 appearances, 123 goals and 352 apps coming in the Premier League, there’s no questioning the current Shanghai Shenhua man’s pedigree, and with a further 14 goals in 69 international appearances, there are certain things he would surely bring to the team.

The forward has had a successful career spanning 16 years with former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti describing Anelka as: “a quick player with good aerial ability, technique, shooting and movement off the ball”.

I just have a feeling that Nicolas Anelka isn’t what we need, a prolific goalscorer would be ideal for our current situation and quite frankly, he isn’t one. Andy Carroll, Carlton Cole and new boy Marouane Chamakh are all good in the air so the need for another target man is small.

A younger, fresher striker would be preferable in my eyes. Someone who would play with hunger and score the goals we need. Not a 33 year old who as most say, has never fulfilled the potential he showed as a 17 year old boy with Arsenal.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

Anelka is not a target man he is a fantastic second striker. Plays just behind the main striker and can turn a game with moments of genious thinking(and hes damn quick too over the first 5 metres)
