A Love Affair With West Ham And The Transfer Window

|

Alan PardewSince the inception of the transfer window back in the 2002-2003 season I don’t think another club has truly created more headlines than our very own West Ham United.

Forever West Ham is now on Google+, so be sure to find us on there by quite simply (and rather unsurprisingly) searching ‘Forever West Ham’

From Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano arriving on the final day of the summer window of the 06/07 season (a move that certainly caught the media cold) the club has time and time again pulled out all the stops to get big names through the door before the deadline.

Other examples would include, Demba Ba, Ravel Morrison, Robbie Keane, Joe Cole and the most expensive man in the history of English football; Andy Carroll.

So with the window set to close on Thursday I think it’s fair to say we’ve already had our traditional shock/headline in the return of Joey Cole, our other targets in the shape of Emanuel Pogatetz (who is expected to join today) and Stephen Warnock seem rather mundane and formulaic by comparison.

Surely if we were to steal a headline or two by deadline day one or two will have to move on to free up some funds…Carlton Cole and Modibo Maiga have both been heavily linked with pastures new and surely with all the strikers on our books it’s not inconceivable that one/both of them could be set to leave the Boleyn; especially with Carlton being out of contract in the summer.

So don’t be too surprised if come last knockings on Thursday we’re in for someone, as just like on the pitch things are never that quite that straight forward with West Ham.

We certainly could do with another Ilan…
