The festive period

|

After a bright start to the Barclays Premier League campaign, West Ham are now approaching an important part of the season, the festive period.

Some tough fixtures lie in store with Everton, Arsenal and Reading all falling in the space of a week. With Norwich at home on the 1st of January and Manchester United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup a few days later, it is set to be an extremely busy and challenging period of the season.

So what can we expect from these games?

Well all 3 before the New Year will be tough, Everton have had a fantastic season, Arsenal are hard to play at the Emirates and have already beaten us this season and Reading are trying to get any points they possibly can whilst sitting in a dangerous position. 4 points would be a real triumph for us out of these 3 games, with anything else as a big positive and anything less will not be at least partially unexpected.

In the early New Year both games we face in the one week are tough. Chris Hughton’s regime looks to be gaining some serious pace at Norwich with them unbeaten in 10 league games. Whilst Manchester United needs no explanation, a formidable opponent but a cup tie that will cause some excitement amongst the West Ham faithful.

The festive period was always going to be tough, with the amount of games in a short time frame it was going to make for a big challenge whoever we played. The fixtures could have gone slightly better for us, however there is a renewed belief and momentum around the Boleyn in recent weeks, and long may that last with a strong Christmas.
