My player of the year for West Ham has to be Winston Reid. Since joining the club from Midtjylland in 2010, Reid has developed into an amazing talent.

Throughout 2012 Winston Reid has been consistently class. 2012 has been the year where the 24 year old New Zealander’s talents have shone though. In the Championship he conjured up some match winning performances- helping us to promotion through the play offs. In the Play-off final, him and James Tomkins had an amazing game and fully deserved their winners medals.
Winston has taken the step up to the Premier League in his stride and has been one our best players this season. In my opinion, one of his best performances came against QPR before he had to go off with an injury. He literally flung his body at everything.

Winston Reid has all the attributes of a class defender. He’s a good in the air, good at tackling, good tactically and is not afraid to put his body on the line for the sake of his team. When you see Reid’s name on the teamsheet, you know you’ve got a player who will put in 110% throughout the 90 minutes. Winston is one of the most underrated defenders in the Premier League; so im glad to see him finally getting the credit he deserves from the West Ham faithful. I hope he get’s the credit he deserves from other football fans soon.
If he starts 2013 the way he’s ended 2012, Big Sam will be receiving a few phone calls from fellow managers in the summer. He has another 10+ years ahead of him and he can only get better so we should do all we can to try and keep hold of him if the situation comes around.
