Rumour Mill: Hammers set for Liverpool raid?

|

With ‘King’ Kenny gone Brendan Rodgers is attempting to reform Liverpool and build them up to the European power they once were. Kenny Dalglish made some serious transfer blunders, with the ridiculous prices paid for Andy Carroll and co topping the list. Rodgers has very different ideas about how to play football, his methodical passing style doesn’t suit players like Andy Carroll and as the Liverpool boss continues to put his own stamp on the team, he is looking to get rid of some of Dalglish’s signings.

Former Hammer Joe Cole seems to be wanted back at the Boleyn by a number of the West Ham faithful, however if I were Big Sam I wouldn’t be looking to call upon his services. 30 year old Cole somewhat fits the mould of Rodgers’ preferred type of player and I thought he would have been integrated back into the first team, but with his injuries it has been hard for him to get a run in the side, and when he has, he’s looked little of the player he once was.

Stewart Downing is one player I am not a fan of. When Liverpool paid 20 million for the England international (I have no idea how that happened) who neither scored nor assisted a single goal last season I was genuinely shocked. With record signing Matt Jarvis taking the left hand side by storm I see no reason whatsoever for West Ham to even enquire about Downing.

Both Jose Enrique and Jordan Henderson have big question marks hanging over their heads after joining Liverpool. Both have showed very little of the talent they did at their former clubs, Newcastle United and Sunderland respectively. In my opinion we are lacking at left back, with McCartney the only recognised Left Back with any Premier League experience we are certainly vulnerable there. Liverpool can’t ask for any more than the 3 million they paid for their number 3 and at that price, I’d be looking to make a move for him.

The same can be said about Henderson, although the fee within the region of 16 – 20 million pounds paid for him was ridiculous, when he played for Sunderland he was incredible. I don’t think Rodgers can ask any more than 6 million for him, and at that price, with him being able to play on the right, where we are lacking slightly he wouldn’t be a bad signing at all.

All very good players before moving to Liverpool.

Conclusion..Poor man mangement and coaching at Liverpool, someone will get a few bargains from the scouser scrap heap.

All these lads need is a bit of belief back in their game, especially Enrique who is in the top 3 full backs in the league in my humble opinion.

No way to Henderson I would prefer if we used some of our youth team than spend money on him and downing!

  • Hilbertos78 says:

Henderson is another vastly over rated young Englishman! Liverpool have spent millions on over rated donkeys, we should not go for any of them as they’ll be on stupid wages with little desire to really graft!

I agree fully about the poor man management ruining some careers! Henderson was tipped for the top when he came out at Sunderland, still young, one bad patch doesn’t mean your a bad player after all!

What is there to talk about? There is not a player in the current mickey-mousers first team squad that I’d have at upton park! End off! Nuff said!
