Big Sam right to give Hall pass?

|

Rob Hall is a great talent that we have at West Ham and last week we let him go out on loan to Birmingham City. Hall has been an integral part of West Ham United’s development squad and has helped them already gain qualification into the Barclays U21 Premier League Elite Group Stage. He will return back to West Ham for the start of the competition.

So was it a good choice to allow Hall to go out on loan?

I agree with Sam Allardyce’s reasoning that it will be good for him to gain first team experience which we will hopefully profit from in the future but at the same time he could be a great asset for us to have on the bench. He could provide something totally different to what we have in the squad. Hall was on the bench for the Stoke game last week and I think he should have been brought one. He can play in various positions and likes to get at people and I think he could have been used well as the player feeding off Andy Carroll.

When he went on loan to Oxford United it was great for him and did really well and hopefully this loan move to Birmingham will put him in great stead for the Premier League. The Championship is a tough division but he didn’t look out of place when he came on for his debut on Saturday evening against Derby County. He came off the bench in the 60th minute and seemed to fit in straight away and wasn’t scarred to carry the ball and run at players. By doing this he earned Birmingham a penalty in the 73rd minute.

I’m hoping once he returns to West Ham we will start to use him a lot more than we currently do. I have seen him a lot at youth level and he is just different class. I know it didn’t work out with Freddie Sears but I honestly think Hall has that extra bit of quality to make it as a top professional.
