Diame’s Army

|

The media and perhaps fans of other clubs may have been convinced that Andy Carroll’s arrival the day before deadline day was the moment all fears of relegation were banished from the realms of Upton Park…but for me it was the moment we signed Mohamed Diame on a free.

So far in his short Upton Park career Diame has been virtually unplayable; his all action, lung-busting, dominant midfield displays somewhat reminiscent of the daddy of the box to box midfield position:  Yaya Toure.

There’s a certain expectation when Diame gets on the ball and starts rampaging up the pitch, opposition players bouncing off him much like the way bullets bounce of Superman; yes our very own man of steel is already becoming a firm fans favourite…and even though it’s very early days I already do worry about next summer and possible overtures from the Prem’s elite.

I firmly believe Diame would be an asset to any team in the country and David Gold and David Sullivan will need to give him a contract that reflects that come next summer.

My other worry with in my opinion the best player currently our books is the looming African cup of nations…with Diame likely to be jetting off with Senegal for several weeks; I do wonder where that will leave us; Gary O’Neil to deputise? (God I hope not!) With any luck Alou Diarra will finally be fit and can fill the void left by one of our genuine match winners.

Mo had been threatening to score his 1st goal for us in virtually every game till he finally broke his duck with that world class strike against Arsenal; I reckon that goal was just the start, there’s so much more to come from this lad.

Lastly anyone remember that Parker geezer that used to play for us? No, me neither.

If he does need replacing due to internationals i think it would give yossi the chance he wants, play him and nolan just above noble or maybe even put tomkins in his place?

I though Senegal need to beat ivory coast to make the African cup of nations… Which was abandoned at 6-2 to the Ivorians. Not 100% but something to check into?

Thought Senegal didnt qualify so he wont be away although I think we will lose Maiga and Demel to the Africans Cup.

I thought Senegal were out of the African cup which means Diame and Demel will be available.
