The importance of AC

|

What a difference a week makes and what a difference a certain Mr Andy Carroll makes, the new number 8 arrived on Thursday evening after a long winded summer pursuit.

Carroll who will be a Hammer until at least the end of the season had a debut to remember before having to limp off with a hamstring injury on the 61st minute which is expected to keep him out for between two to four week. Although not bagging the goal his performance deserved he grabbed an assist whilst playing a part in the other two goals as the Irons blew Fulham away in a dominant first half performance.

He was a constant menace and the Fulham defence just couldn’t handle his presence as he attacked every ball and hassled and harried when Fulham had possession. The eye catching performance pleased the expectant Boleyn faithful who cheered and clap every time they caught a glimpse of their new star.

His dominance in the air meant the Cottagers defence were immediately drawn to him when the ball came to the final third. Carroll created space for others as well as winning headers and pairing up with his old mucker Kevin Nolan as the Hammers flew out of the blocks as a Carroll flick on found Vaz Te who clipped the ball to captain Nolan to smash home 52 seconds into the encounter. All those who questioned the will and effort Carroll would put in were silenced with this start.

As the game went on his movement and touch were a class above from the rest of the field, so much so he filled in for Matthew Taylor who moved him side as left wing showing his intelligence as class. He was given a heroes build up, with placards and posters on the club shop window as well as on the big screens inside the stadium during the game and the big number 8 lived up to the expectation.

His presence allowed Winston Reid to get a run on the Fulham defence to nod home the home sides second goal from Taylors whipped in corner as Brede Hangeland and co.’s mind were fixed on Carroll’s movement as they forgot to pick up Reid.

And for the third and final goal he took away 6 Fulham defenders as the ball was hoisted into the box, Carroll stood his ground as the ball fell to Taylor who smashed home his first goal of the season. The way the team gelled around Carroll, was a positive sign for the future we all knew he would be perfect for our supposed style of play and his flick ons and aerial class will really give West Ham an edge this season I feel.

Although Andy will be gutted to miss out on international duty, his loss maybe West Ham’s gain as it may well allow him to get used to his surroundings and being around his new teammates.

What a summer window and what a start to the season! Keep believing!

Come on you Irons!

As an irons fan I normally don’t give a monkey’s about other teams. But hearing comments that BR may recall our Andy at some point this season is most concerning. If this is true I never thought I’d be looking out for the mickey mousers every week! It would be typical for west ham to finally get a world class centre forward who was playing his heart out for the club and was odds on to sign at the end of the season, only for it to be cruely denighed to us by his recall by BR in January! If he was recalled would that scupper his transfer? Just when it was going ok for a change!

OMG….. HE CANT RECALL ANDY CARROLL……

HE CAN ONLY RECALL HIM IF HE SELLS HIM, THATS THE WHOLE POINT IN PAYING A LOAN FEE!

    SOUCE: I WORK IN SPORT!

JUST PROOF THAT EVEN A MANAGER CAN GET THINGS WRONG, IM SURE HE WAS TOLD THAT AFTER THE PRESS CONFERENCE TOO!
