Sign him up, Sam

West Ham have entered talks with Canning Town born academy graduate Mark Noble over a new contract as he enters his final year.

Noble 25, is West Ham’s current longest serving squad member as his career enters its 13 th year, loved for his passion and never say die attitude every member of the West Ham family loves him to bits.

Rumours of a possible departure in the summer was met by many tweets being sent to David Gold begging him to offer “Nobes” a new contract. It seems now after Noble rejected a possible move to Fulham the fans wishes may come true as reports are circulating that the chairmen and Noble have sat down to talk over an extension to his contract.

Now to me Noble is like one of us, but the support he gets is fully justified, he is a quality player and the fact he is a Hammer is a joy to behold. Last season his success from the spot picked us up many a point. So far this season he has impressed me and the news of his contract offer is pleasing.

He covers every blade of grass and isn’t afraid of putting his head where it hurts, picking up the baton from Scott Parker. A stat I heard after the Fulham game was something that surprised me, 98% of his passes were successful and found a claret and blue shirt. A feat that wouldn’t look out of place at the Nou Camp and Old Trafford, Noble was outstanding that game and gave a timely reminder to Gold and Sullivan that you don’t want to lose me.

The only thing that frustrates me is his set piece delivery, to me his ability to take a good set piece has deteriorated a few years ago his set pieces were second to none in the West Ham squad. But now more often than not he doesn’t bet the first man and with players like Matthew Taylor and Matthew Jarvis now he will have to up his game if he want to keep that job.

So for me for a player of his ability and the fact he is a Hammer through and through he must be tied down as if we were to lose him it could cost us dear. So sign him up Big Sam!

Come on you Irons!

I seconded everything you have just stated in your artical, for me Mark Noble is Mr WestHam Utd, and i hope he spends the rest of his carrer here, when i watch Nobbes play, i get a true feeling he will give his all in every game he plays, unlike Kevin Nolan, who may pop up with many goals during the season, but will not work hard enough during the 90 minutes he is on the pitch for.

To be quite honest i think personally, Mark Noble is more deserving of Nolan’s £50k a week more than any other player bar Carroll whom is on a Whooping £100k, so i expect Gold + Sully to dig deep to keep the Midfield Fighting Mastro at Upton Park for the forseable future… COY!

I’d let him go on a free at the end of the season. Sam has proved that he is ruthless when he has to be eg getting rid of Baldock etc and replacing with better players to improve the team. Nobles has a high pass rate completion but they all mostly backward/sidewards passes and a lot of them put team mates in trouble. Noble gets away with it as a completed pass whereas the player in trouble gets abuse. I’m West Ham through and through so let me play. We could easily do a lot better.

i agree with you that pass completion rates dont mean very much. as other statistics like number of corners, shots on/off target, tackles made, even goals scored. … these statistics are an attempt to compare performance. but the beautiful game is full of incalculable variables. they are full of random events which no statistics can control. statistics are an aid but not the be all and end all. … Noble’s passing is building and possession, but not enough penetration. it’s true! He takes the ball to dinner, then the cinema, then leaves the ball on its doorstep with just a peck on the cheek. He needs to close the deal more often. .. And his corners have been too floaty whereas taylor whips them in with more pace. But i’ll tell you what, if Noble is in the box for corners instead of taking them he should pick an extra few goals this year. Add those extra goals to his penalties and he’ll be a 10+ central midfielder his season. That’s England form, a massive boost in confidence/performance, and market value. To conclude… Noble will come good! And he’s a West Ham lad… what more can we ask for.

he’s worth every penny, and he’s only gonna get better.not even in his prime yet.

  • HammerTime says:

Marks a Hammer through & through, but he’s also a quality player, give him a new 5 year deal.Mr Gold.

I think Mark has been superb I personally think he is better than ‘judas’ Parker in my eyes, I don’t get why everyone loves Parker yeah he played well but said before we were relegated that he was pretty much leaving! I think we have a better younger version of Parker that won’t leave us for spurs! However with signings like Diarra and Diame competition for places is high but we have 3 top defensive midfielders now and Diame and noble are abit more versatile than Diarra. Nolan gets a lot of unfair criticism I think, he is a great leader and scores goals technically e isn’t the greatest but this season he looks to have slimmed down abit and doing a job! The one thing I’d change with out team is drop Collins, he isn’t the player he was Reid has been superb and Tomkins works well alongside him! If Tomkins plays midfield again I always feel like giving up my season ticket he isn’t good enough to play that role! Swansea proved that!

I hope maiga is given more of a chance than the lanky piece of shit that is Carlton Cole who couldn’t hit a cows arse with a shovel! The guy nearly scored on his debut, scored in the cup and scored for Mali the other day he deserves a chance!

Jarvis a superb captcher I think Jarvis LM and Taylor LB is our strongest left side, Linda just doesn’t do it for me!

  • JCxWHU says:

Mark Noble’s work rate is second to none. He does so much work off the ball. For those of you saying to let him go then do yourself a favour and support another club because you haven’t been watching the lad week in, week out giving his all for this club. Were lucky to have him. Sign him up!

  • Old Jack says:

In the near future Mark will be an England regular. Dont let it be another case of a Hammer youngster being snapped up by the so called Big Boys!
