What can we expect today?

|

The summer transfer window is now coming to a close which means the transfer Deadline Day is nearly upon us. This is a special day in the footballing calendar when reporters camp outside training grounds and closed stadia attracting crowds of truants and when footballers are spotted at petrol stations and airports all over the land.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

This is the last opportunity until January for clubs to attempt to sign transfer targets and ultimately finalise squads. This usually means the sense of panic buying is almost tangible and most of transfer deals have a feeling of inevitability. However an eleventh hour deal or a shock transfer (Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano) can still take everyone by surprise. So with this in mind, what will the coming transfer deadline day have in store for West Ham?

Well the surprise came on the penultimate day, what a signing Andy Carroll is! Cannot wait to see the ‘big man’ in the claret and blue and think he will do the job for us.

Another Liverpool player we’re linked with is Joe Cole. It has been stated that West Ham may be interested in bringing the 2003 Hammer of the Year back to the Boleyn ground following his loan at Lille last year.

Former Hammer, Yossi Benayoun is also in talks with the Hammers over a loan move…how great would it be to have to Yossi back?!?

We’ve also been linked with is Ajax’s Miralem Sulejmani. The 23-year-old Serbia international almost joined us two years ago on loan but he was denied a work permit. He has been a regular scorer over the last few seasons and has been told he can leave Amsterdam with the club admitting they have already received a bid for the player.

According to reports Clint Dempsey is still attracting attention of West Ham with us joining Sunderland and Liverpool in the pursuit of the American soccer star.

Chris Solly is also reported to be on Big Sam’s radar. The 21 year old Charlton defender has been linked with a move to East London this summer to bolster the defensive options. His form last season was impressive earning him Charlton’s Player of the Year by supporters and selected as Young Player of the Year by the management.

On the departures front, it has been reported that we have agreed a fee of £3 million for Nicky Maynard with Cardiff City whereas Fulham have been reported as making an enquiry as to Mark Noble’s availability.

So it looks as though there might still be some transfer dealings for West Ham on the Transfer Deadline Day so as in previous years speculation on the day will be rife so please remember if you hear from someone’s sister’s boyfriend who is the groundskeeper at the Boleyn Ground that Shaun Wright Philips is in the club car park or someone’s friend’s brother is an estate agent and has just shown Eidur Gudjohnsen a house in Plaistow then please take it with a pinch of salt!

  • Tony Dorigo's Dorito's says:

Carroll is a massive coup for the club.

Would love to see Yossi come back but not sure it’ll happen.

Still hoping for a couple of defenders to come in.

Yossi would be a class signing ….great idea. Swapping Carroll for Cole and Yossi for Noble would improve the team by 200 %.

  • The Don says:

Looks to have gone quiet on the west ham signings.

Yossi looks to be going back to Liverpool as well.
