Ravel is off but is it the right move?

|

Ravel Morrison has today joined Birmingham City on loan but will this move benefit him and West Ham?

Morrison is a highly skilled young player who joined from Manchester United in January last year, but he came with a bad boy reputation which has got in the way of his development, but it is believed that he has knuckled down this pre-season in an attempt to rejuvenate his faltering career.

Just before he joined the Hammers, Sir Alex Ferguson said he was one of the best young players he has ever seen, and considering he has seen Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and David Beckham in his day it is high praise indeed for the youngster. But it does also bring a degree of pressure with it as well. Unfortunately for him, being a small fish in a big pond didn’t suit him, and he got involved with the wrong people in Manchester meaning he received a bad boy reputation meaning he fell well down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

So would a loan move help develop his career? Well we all know he has quality written all over him, so for me if you give him a bit of structure, training in mid-week then game time on a Saturday it can surely only help him if he can gain first team football. Assuming Birmingham will offer him that it can only be a good thing, a season in the Championship could well do him a world of good, as I see game time at West Ham this season being very limited.

The only worry is uprooting him again could cause issues for his reputation again, moving to Birmingham could mean he falls into the wrong crowd again, as well as this he may think he is too big for Birmingham, which is of course not the case as he is still young and unproven.

We will see how this news develops but for me, if his attitude is right a loan move could be the best thing for West Ham and for Ravel as it is high time he lives up to his reputation.

Come on you Irons!

Isn’t he being shipped out on loan because of a bust up with Mcdonald?

Birmingham need guile (which means plenty of game time for him) and we need him to get a season of competitive football under his belt.
Suits both Parties and Lee Clark like’s to play good football. Win, Win for me!

As a BCFC Fan, You state he could fall in with the wrong crowd again. Birmingham City have a great dressing room spirit so I don’t see what you mean or how this can happen.
