It pains me to say it BUT can we learn from their ‘partnership’?

It is no hidden secret, that the West Ham fans and the Tottenham Hotspur fans don’t ‘get on’ and Hammers won’t be making any sports bets backing Spurs any time soon .

We have seen some classics down the years between the London rivals, by far my favorite derby with the north London side was on the weekend before the FA Cup Final with Liverpool in 2006, I was 10 and remember driving up to the game with my Dad and hearing reports that the Tottenham team have been struck down by a ‘dodgy lasagne’. This came on a day where, if Spurs could beat us they would secure Champions League football over an Arsenal side that were playing their final game at the Gunners home of Highbury. The abiding memory is of a certain Carl Fletcher scoring an absolute beauty down low into the Sir Trevor Brooking end. The added comedy value of the Hammers fans in the Bobby Moore end, throwing toilet rolls to Spurs players as they went to take corners. Leaving a flushed looking Michael Carrick looking rather bemused. West Ham United left the game winners and Arsenal fans were waving goodbye to their former home in a jubilant mood. Though a season later we had to endure one of the games of the Barclays Premier League. After going 3-2 up with minutes left in the game, in a game that saw Carlos Tevez’s first goal in a West Ham shirt, we lost 3-4 to a cruel 96th minute winner for Spurs.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

So after years of classic encounters between the sides can we learn something from the Lillywhites? On Monday we saw the sale of Luka Modric to Real Madrid, which ended the longest running transfer saga in the summer window.

Part of the agreement that Tottenham made with Jose Mourinho’s Galácticos, was that the clubs would share a new partnership deal, meaning that Real and Tottenham would have a good relationship with Spurs and would share coaching techniques, potential players and all aspects involved with running the clubs. So could it work with West Ham United?

In my opinion, this deal signals the fact that Tottenham have highlighted how far they need to come to try and influence world football. Real Madrid wouldn’t make a deal with a club that they don’t see as a rival. Could you imagine Chelsea contacting a club like Bayern Munich or Inter Milan? They wouldn’t because they see clubs of this statue as rivals, for luring players to their clubs and because routinely they will need to play each other to have success in Europe.

Though for a club, the size of West Ham, that are not trying to take the world by storm (just yet), could get an added benefit from a deal such as this. If we partnered ourselves with clubs such as Roma or Borussia Monchangladbach for example, we could have a chance to sign the players that are showing a desire to join a Premier League club. It could benefit us by signing a deal with clubs that aren’t rivals in any way to us, but have talented players that we could try and sign for cheaper price tags.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

    All this delusion.

  • HardcoreHammer says:

Not a bad idea, but it’s tough to say what it means in practise. We’ll see how it works out for Spurs, but my guess is very little apart from the occasional loan.

I also think the article is a slight dig at Spurs – ” signals the fact that Tottenham have highlighted how far they need to come to try and influence world football” – which is slightly petty and boring, seeing as they continually finish above us. We certainly have to go further, I can’t see us in the CL any time soon can you?

It comes across as chippy if we keep having a go at them – I don’t think care about us that much after all.

I’d try and stay up before taking the world by storm… just yet.

  • Stoney says:

Spammers could partner mighty teams like orient and D&R. Nobody in their right mind would partner a two bob outfit like the spammers.

    • Lasagne says:

I think the real name of this “partnering agreement” is really “feeder agreement” and we all know who will be feeding who!

      • Stoney says:

Thank you. Yes, If we feed Real that suggests we’re doing something right. Spammers are our feeder club. It’s a hierarchy I can recognise and deal with. There’s probably only one or two clubs in the world on a par with Real. They’re at the top, us below them and the spammers are a wart on the ring piece of the footballing planet. Lowest of the low. Learn your place.

Its just a DIG at Tottenham and you respond as if he means it !!! Nowhere near them , they are top six ish and that is our dream !!!! Any dig at them is quality so don’t put negatives on sites , just join the banter if you area true West Ham !!!!!

Zzzzzzzzzzzz typical Tottenham obsessed bullsh*t from a sad West Ham div

  • Boleynboy says:

I don’t care what they do. Screw them.
As for giving them grief…they have finished 4th twice in 3 seasons, we have finished in the top 4 ONCE in our entire history.

Let’s just get on with our own business. I don’t care what the spuds are up to.

  • Woodsy says:

I think we need to wait and see what the partnership really means. We arranged one with Inter when we bought Sandro but it hasn’t helped with Damiao or Oscar.

My hunch is we’ll get a couple of games trying to build our profile in America and China, on field benefits will be less direct.

    • Stoney says:

It’s a Partnership at youth and coaching level. Sharing of ideas. It’s not about first team transfers or first refusal on players.

  • Anons says:

“… the West Ham fans and the Tottenham Hotspur fans don’t ‘get on’ ”

    You know what’s funny ..
    1. West ham fans don’t ‘get on’ with the spurs fans.
    2. West ham fans also think spurs fans don’t ‘get on’ with them.
    3. Actually, spurs fans don’t give a hoot!

They don’t care about west ham and don’t give a stuff either way how west ham’s season goes.
Makes me laugh how west ham fans are so pre-occupied with spurs and spurs fans couldn’t care less how west ham do!

  • milky bar yid says:

They even sing to Arsenal fans “we hate Tottenham more than you” ……its like having an annoying little brother in a way, a mentally disabled, ugly, spotty, ginger little brother

  • notmyname says:

the ramblings of a 16 year old american no doubt. kill yourself.

  • Rob says:

We already have a feeder club it’s called west spam. Over the years we have cherry picked all your good talent and also sent you so right duds. Biggest mugs in football are spammers fans. They think they will fill the Olympic stadium. They are not 60000 let alone 80000 fans who would admit to being a west ham fan. You have had to go on Talksport to sell season tickets and up your crowd. Remember you are as big as millwall, charlton and palace. I bet you won’t publish this. Shame as you might learn something

  • Phil the iron says:

I have no idea why anyone would want anything to do with the spuds! Terrible team terrible idea! Must have been yid that wrote it! Personally want nothing to do with them. Hate people and clubs who think they are bigger /better than they are! What would we possibly gain from deal? Club has no idea about football or players so they have to pay inflated prices for our academy players as they don’t have any of their own. Just Sad old bag puss never stayed long enough to financially ruin them like he tried everywhere else he has been. But then again AVB might just do the trick for him. Spuds such a big club that they had to try and cheat there way into west ham’s new stadium! You lot are in court not us. Mugs! Can’t be bothered to go on!

    • Stoney says:

“Can’t be bothered to go on”. The world wishes you hadn’t started. “had to try and cheat there (their) way into west ham’s new stadium”. A stadium you can’t afford, got to get a loan from the council, a stadium we didn’t want. Levy used it as leverage to get the concessions he wanted from haringey council for our new stadium in tottenham. Business genius, far too intelligent for you, or your dildo peddling board to even comprehend let alone implement. Thick as pig shit. Spammers are always good for mugging themselves off with spouting ignorant dribble. Like shooting fish in a barrel.

  • Grat says:

    lmao @ Phil the iron
“Hate people and clubs who think they are bigger /better than they are!”
Must be hard being a fan of a team you hate!

  • D Gold says:

To all you pathetic spuds (or is it just one of you?) commenting on this West Ham site…

I see an awful lot of interest here from sad spud fans who claim not to be bothered about West Ham. If you’re truly not bothered by us Hammers why don’t you concentrate on your own team’s blogs & websites? You could join in with all the other delusional spuds to discuss who you can waste your newly earned cash on by midnight tomorrow. The following weeks you can then turn on your chairman for the massive mistakes he’s made in letting your best assets go.

The truth is you have lost your manager who was the only chance you had of punching above your weight with the real big clubs, you’ve now lost your best player and the demise towards your true level is now well under way.
You’re interested in West Ham because you actually realise we are your true rivals but you like to think you are in Arsenal & even Chelsea’s league. We Hammers know who our rivals are (spurs) but the truth is Arsenal are not bothered about you and your recent high league finishes have come to an end.
As for looking forward to playing us, perhaps you might try to score against us this season, we are going for at least 4 points off you again.
Your chairman knows the future, he sees you as the fourth biggest club in London after his plan to sabotage our move into the Olympic Stadium has proved a waste of time and money.
    Discuss………

    • Stoney says:

Wasting money? You paid over £10m for Matt Jarvis and have just loaned Andy Carroll. As for the players you have bought in the past. I don’t need to mention names. We both know. Wind your neck in. What a mug. Back to the championship for you little fish.

  • Grat says:

    D gold –
heard of newsnow have you?? This cruddy little blog popped up there so me and a few others are enjoying seeing what true obsession is all about!
You truly come accross as a sad, sad bitter little man who seems to be more interested in dreaming of the downfall of spurs rather than enjoying another brief trip to the premiership.
As to turning on the chirman for selling moderic – well he kept him another year and didn’t sell him to a rival – was the best we could have hoped for seeing s we actually had a player good enough for real madrid to want – you guys have anyone like that? though not.As to us being your true rivals – yeah – that makes sense seeing as we finished a whole division above you – on place and one point below arsenal and a couple of places above a chelsea side who but for a couple of fortunate results would not be in the position they are this summer to strengthen.
you may say we have been punching above our weight, but only by a few places -to say you are our real rivals is pretty delusional – please tell me you can see that – I can only hope that you do not represent all west ham fans -who can be entertaining in the most part – but you sir are a dick
