Opinion from the stands

Three signings this week?

|

If Jack Sullivan’s tweets are to be believed it is going to be a busy day or two for the doormen at Upton Park, West Ham will look to wrap up at least 2 signings by midway through this coming week.

Sullivan who tweeted “Jack sullivan@jsullivanwhu Dad is flying home today to get some deals done 2-3 by Monday and Tuesday hopeful one we be the very big sign #COYI” sparking speculation around the social networking and forum world.

One is widely expected to be Real Mallorca centre half Ivan Ramis, after it was confirmed on the Spanish clubs official site that a fee between the two clubs was agreed. Ramis who was being chased by Wigan will fly into London for a medical in the coming day. The general census is that this will prove to be a good signing, as I have continually said since we sealed promotion the Hammers need a few more defensive bodies if we are going to compete in the Premier League. And Ramis fits that bill. He is described as strong, good in the air, and composed on the ball whilst being good at playing long balls.

And it is thought another arrival could be a former Hammer and another centre half with experience in James Collins, known as the “ginger Pele” during his time at West Ham, Collins could be reunited with Mark Noble and boys soon. James Collins could be available for around about 2 million as Paul Lambert looks to stamp his own authority in Birmingham at Aston Villa. We all know what Collins is about, he is strong as an ox and great in the air, and a move back to the East end could reignite his faltering career.

The final player is the one everyone is speculating about, the “big signing”. Is it Andy Carroll? Is it Joselu from Madrid? I even saw Kaka’s name being touted. Now I’m no “ITK” but I just can’t see it being Carroll or Kaka strutting their stuff around the Boleyn next season, and with Mr Sullivan in Spain negotiating contracts, I suspect the big signing will Joselu from Madrid, a young prospect for the future. His goal scoring record is pretty impressive all be it for Madrid B in a lower Spanish league, scoring 40 goals in 72 appearances.

Yeah i agree, it wont be Carroll or Kaka.

Carroll and his agent are fishing for a bigger club to come in, IF we were to sign him it wouldnt be for another 2 weeks or so!

The season is fast approaching though, signings need to be made!

Im SICK to death of all the ITK’s practically confirming we have signed someone then absolutely NOTHING happens!

  • Ed says:

The big signing is a striker and will beat our transfer record. Will we pay that much for Joselu?

  • Geoff says:

The big signing is probably someone who hasn’t even been mentioned, Ramis looks set to sign so hes the second and hopefully the third is James Collins as that will mean central defense is sorted or a right back would be nice.

  • Jamie says:

Can’t see us getting Carroll, but Collins would be a nice surprise as he was solid for us when he wasn’t injured!

I read here we could be losing Baldock??? http://westhamunitedblog.co.uk/2012/07/30/monday-talking-points/

Loan him out maybe but not sell just yet as he hasn’t had a chance surely!

    • BigPete says:

If Baldock goes then BSA obviously saying that he’s behind Maynard and Rob Hall in the pecking order. Cole and Vaz Te plus, hopefully, a big signing above that again means that Baldock will get little 1st team playing time…even in cup matches! Probably best that he goes. Pity…i had hoped he would be the fox in the box, but I trust BSA!!!

  • tommy says:
