Sam wants to stay

|

Sam Baldock has vowed to work hard to cement a place in the Hammers starting line-up come next season.

The striker, who was used sparingly in the latter stages of West Ham’s last campaign, looks to be wanting to stay and force his way into the team rather than go out on loan.

He said: “I don’t see why I can’t take this opportunity to stake my claim”

“Everyone knows that during the second half of last year I was very frustrated.

“I’m a footballer who wants to play football at the end of the day. I’ve been working hard and hopefully I’ll be given a chance to show what I can do.”

Baldock, who scored early on in the friendly against Austria Vienna, came to West Ham last summer from MK Dons, a window in which John Carew was also brought in under Allardyce’s reign. Later on in the season, the number of strikers was increased with the acquisition of Nicky Maynard and Ricardo Vaz Te.

OK so Carew wasn’t much competition for a starting spot, butI think it could be a case of just having too many strikers, especially withVaz Te making such a massive impression when he came to East London.

What do you think? Should Baldock stay, go on loan or should we be thinking about getting rid all together? As always, tweet me your views at @alwaysintune or leave a comment.

Little Sam should definately stay, when he’s been given his chance to play as a striker he has put the ball away and looks the best natural finisher we’ve had since Ashton,Dont ruin the lads career playing i the stiffs, he needs first team football, give him a chance he could be our new Tony Cottee!!

He should stay, great potential, weather he should start every game I’m not sure. Playing next to a big centre forward help him? I think not.

I think he should stay and I feel playing next to a big striker WILL help him. It may be a cliché but it’s not simply the knock on’s that a smaller striker feeds off but the space & confusion created by a bigger striker. Which is probably the reason why two little ‘uns are such a rare sight in football!

Keep him & give him a few starts. He has great pace & will only improve. He will need to build his confidence but won’t do it in the stiffs.

Great potential, but send him on loan. Heard we’re signing Wang Haibo from china, who looks a real talent, leaving no place for lil’ sam.
