RUMOUR MILL: Douglas…who?

90% of people have no idea who Douglas is, I am part of the 10% who do I’ve followed the huge centre back from Brazil for a number of years.

Currently plying his trade under the wally with the brolly at FC Twente he has fast become one of the best defenders in the league arguably the best now that Vertonghen has completed his move to spurs.

He has all the attributes West Ham need from a CB he is a HUGE presence, stands at 6ft 4 and is just a power house, he would make attackers think twice before making runs at him. After watching him in highlights and after following reports going back 4 years to when he was linked with a big move to Juventus, a move he turned down to stay with Fc Twente so his loyalty is unquestionable. If we sign Douglas it would be a huge coup for the club and would prove his worth in the Premier League, I personally would love to see him in claret and blue and although he is only 24 he has the experience at the back that he could pass on to James Tomkins.

So would he fit into Big Sam’s team?

Well let’s look at the 4 questions that would decide this!

Would he fit the long ball game? YES

Has he got what it takes to play in the Premier League? YES

Would he fit the bill for the players Big Sam is looking for? He is 6ft 4 and built like a brick sh…. (You get the drift) so that would be a yes

Would he give a calming presence at the back that’s needed? Yes

So in my opinion sign him tomorrow and we can all look forward to a season of a tight defence commanded by a real talent and a true professional!
