Do you remember this former Hammer?

|

Remember him? Head like an 8-ball? Used to run up and down the sidelines waving and grinning? Of course you do. I don’t even know why I bothered giving you all those fun facts; the name obviously haunts you.

Joining us from Liverpool in 2000, he had scored 9 goals in 33 appearances for the Anfield club. But sadly that luck ended when he reached Upton Park, with no goals to Titi’s name during his time with the Hammers. One of my first ever memories of Upton Park is seeing Titi run up and down the pitch with a humongous grin on his face, only to spend the rest of the match on the subs bench.

So what did Titi do next? Well, aside from unsuccessfully suing West Ham due to ‘breach of contract’ he has actually made quite a name for himself… in Guinea. He was linked to the manager’s job for their national team in 2005, but instead became technical director. He combined this with a head coach role at Syli National (I’ve never heard of them either), before being sacked due to poor results and a lack of communication.

But, in 2010, Camara became the first sportsman in Guinea to hold a government post when Guinea’s new prime minister made him the Minister of Sport for the country. Sounds fancy huh? Who knew the Cockneys’ reject (see what I did there?) would be head of sport for his country? I guess it just shows how different football is in certain parts of the world. But let’s face it – the guy’s done well for himself!
