Want him back? You’re ‘arry a laugh

|

So after four years with Tottenham Hotspur Harry Redknapp got the old tin tack. In my opinion he was very unlucky as he delivered two top 4 finishes in 3 season’s; certainly in the Premier League era Spurs have never known such levels of consistency.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

Ultimately though it was the throwing away of 3rd spot and Chelsea winning the Champions League to deny Tottenham entry into it; which cost our ex-manager .

Could Harry however return to the Upton Park hot seat? If things didn’t work out with Sam could we go running back to Harry? Would it be the same as it was before? The lovely football in the traditional West Ham way, wayward maverick’s arriving on our door step? Promising cup runs that ultimately end in failure? No.

Too much has come and gone; Harry was never really accepted by Spurs fans largely due to his West Ham connections, well its vice-versa now. He simply wouldn’t be welcome back at the Boleyn as an opposing manager let alone in the home dug-out! Football fans tend to have long memories and since Harry went up the road (after swearing he’d never leave Pompey again.) I still and I’d wager a lot of other Hammers fans are bitter about some of his conduct towards us…for instance the way he ruthlessly and publically pursued Craig Bellamy whilst we were in the midst of a relegation battle in the 08/09 season left a rather bitter taste. It showed a lack of respect for a club where he’d spent a considerable chunk of his playing/managerial career and was a slap in the face to the same fans that used to see him as one our own.

I think the common consensus within the ranks of Irons fans is that when Sam leaves (which will hopefully be after 3-4 years after he’s re-established us as Premier League club) is that we’d like one of our old boys to come in and bring back the flair, style and swagger that was the hallmark of West Ham in the late 90’s/ early 2000’s; however we don’t want it to be a swan-song for old ‘arry…we want it to be his greatest ever signing Paolo Di Canio.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham-lp

Wouldn’t touch him was a hero for me as a kid but by the end of his West Ham period I had come to see the real character of the man, the very character that has as much as anything got him sacked at the spuds. I also remember how towards the end he lost the plot, had no strategy and looked like he was due a heart attack. Oh my opinion has all gone downhill from there since too. Now way should he ever be allowed back, nor I suspect that he would want to unless he saw a large paper envelope heading his way of course.

Once a pikey always a pikey, welcome home Harry your always welcome at the Boleyn.

  • Stoney says:

Wrong. He was accepted by the spurs fans. He was loved by many, and judging by the blogs, he still is. You think far too much of west ham, and know very little about spurs’ fans, if you think we care that he managed you. The problem with him, for levy and many spurs fans, regardless of how well he did, is that he’s a typical eastender. He can’t keep his mouth shut. He has to say the very first thing that comes in to his head. He thinks he’s smart, he thinks he has the gift of the gab but really it’s just an inherently ignorant eastend patois. Levy and the board got tired of this, twinned with taking his eye of the job thinking he was a shoe-in with England, so they got rid. It’s their prerogative. You don’t want Harry back but you need him. Under Allardyce you won’t survive in the prem. Your squad is inferior to every other team in the league and Allardyce employs puerile long ball tactics which in-turn deliver a tedious footballing spectacle. Where’s the flair, style and swagger in that?

    • Andy says:

Whoa whoa whoa. You can’t define it as that black and white. Redknapp completely split opinions in the spurs community, and I don’t know which blogs you’ve been reading, but while many of us would be prepared to thank him for what he’s done, we never went as far as loving him. This article is pretty good actually, even if it was written by a hammer.

      • Stoney says:

My opinion, your opinion. I read the blogs that are linked through newsnow, just like 99% of spurs’ fans. Ok, not EVERY spurs’ fan accepted him, not EVERY spurs’ fan loved him but the majority did. In a democracy a majority governs. That was my point so Whoa Whoa Whoa yourself and stop being such a literal pedant. I’ve had a season ticket for over twenty years and have heard the crowd when they don’t like a manager/player. They don’t hold back, but they are also fulsome in their praise for those they love. The stadium was alive, cheering Redknapp’s name full bore on many an occasion last season. They also begged him to stay rather than take the England job. Yes, there was dissent but it was far outweighed by the pro lobby.

when big sam time is done with us-be that 3/4 years, harry will be enjoying his retirement by the seaside, which started in mid 2012.

  • john says:

Harry was Billy Bonds assistant and he stabbed him in the back dont forget that. He is a proper dodgy characther and there is no room for that in this day and age. Tottenhams finaces are probably right up the wall, wait for the player exodus. Also that twitchy bastard was always sniffing around our players would be happy if he never got another job.

  • Barry says:

Love you Spammers, picking and choosing managers. Your lucky to have Big sam. try to play football and you will go straight back down. Harry can be good for any club for the first few years, but he always fades away. Always has, always will. We took the good bit and Levy has avoided the bad bit. Big thanks to Harry but we all know where it was going next.

“Harry was never really accepted by Spurs fans largely due to his West Ham connections”

    Comedy gold.

  • The Cat says:

On cue……and out of the woodwork they come!
There are many spuds supporters that welcomed & rated Harry, but there ARE many that never took to him (I know quite a few)!
Harry has verbal Diarrhoea and always has done, but I doubt that was the reason for his dismissal Or if we’ll ever find out (or care even). The spuds can get back to their tried and tested new manager every year and a half! As for having him back…… No Chance! He thought he was bertie big B……. and enjoyed firing the occasional arrow in our direction, but in the end he got a kick in them!
Big Sam is no short term manager, give it a couple of years and we’ll see who’s laughing!

  • Phoenix says:

Harry messed up by not wanting to speak about contracts when levy wanted to offer himtea 3 year deal. This all happened while Harry was being linked with the England role, all he had to do was sign but he tried to play it smart & it back fired. You can’t do things like that to the likes of Levy, and to make it worse Harry started making demands after England snubbed him. This is the same guy who said I he don’t want to speak about contracts until the end of the season, gets snubbed by England then suddenly changes his tune. What an idiot, Harry got exactly what he deserves. Some may say its harsh, but If he had signed and England came calling Spurs could of got the pay off and he would get the job we all know he wanted to take, and everyone would of been happy. If it didn’t go to plan then he still would of been a Spurs, never mind Harry that’s what you get for messing with Levy.

  • harry had his head turned by the press over the england job and blew it

  • Trekking Iron says:

Never relegated under H. Qualified for Europe under H. Played great football under H. H got Spuds into top 4twice, after rescuing them from relegatn zone. Sorry, why wouldn’t we want him if we had a vacancy. Dodgy dealing rumours may be a reason……..oops, talking of dodgy dealing rumours, haven’t we got BFS as manager!

  • Dave Howells says:

Spurs fans may be accepting of ex West Ham managers but we are not interested in ex spuds managers. For me he stabbed Billy in the back and I have never forgiven, I don’t dislike him after all he played for us and well but no thanks. What about Slaven eventually ? Spuds fans are deluded they think some Welshman running down the wing like he’s on a Kawasaki is entertaining football ?? ha ha

  • spursguv says:

Your right there mate. Being a hammer I didn’t want the tosser. It’s that east end spiv..smile in ya face whilst stealing ya wallet..persona of his that is hard to cop. Actually it’s what he’s like. He’s a turd of a bloke. Has no loyalty or trust. I’d say it was his personality that got him the sack not the absolute choke (true west ham style)that lost us 3rd spot. I’d love him to go back to west ham. It’ll make taking the usual 6 points of you morons even sweater. YIDS

  • Dave Howells says:

I think you mean ‘sweeter’ Einstein !! COYI

  • Dave Howells says:

Supported West Ham for 45 years and I am actually from West London, can honestly say I would rather eat my own limbs than support your pile of shite !!

  • benfleetammer says:

That twat has left every club in the shit ! apart from spud c@@ts, only cos Levy isn’t that stupid as the other boards that employed him. He has no management skills, as the ENGLAND board could see. He shit on Billy ( his best mate ! ) to be where he is today. Also F@@KED the taxman with a dog called Rosie !!!! any club that takes him on are idiots ! enough said…

  • Saboteur says:

there’s always next year!, same old same old spurs, how many managers have they had and really done nothing, got into the champions league and failed got to the semi finals of the cup, and failed, average 2k fans more than us and still fail, Harry was the best thing you lot had, and I repeat had, you’ll probably finish above us but look at the dough you have thrown at it, and when I say it I mean failure, if you add the cash you have spent over the last 20years to the cash City have spent, it probably evens out, but guess what they have won the big one in the last 20 years, it’s about time you realise you truly are just another London club, and not what you think you are, you are on the decline now, bye bye

    • Stoney says:

If spurs have failed and are on the decline what does that say about west ham? Never played in the champions league, haven’t won a trophy in over thirty years, yo-yo between the top and second tier, owners peddle dildos, been given a stadium that every tax payer in this country has funded and still need a loan from the council to pay the rent. You’re a pathetic little joke of a club. Tottenham Hotspur are light years ahead of you eastend pikeys.

      • Swhammer says:

We won a trophy this season….

        • Stoney says:

And what trophy would that be? Championship play-off trophy? Shows your level perfectly. Give you enough rope…

        • Swhammer says:

at the end of the day, it’s a trophy more than none. Redknapp got you to where you are now, surely it am only be down hill for spuds now? Apparently mordic has stated he wants to leave for real.. The start of an exodus?

        • Swhammer says:

          *can only

    • Whoareyou says:

Ha, enjoy this season in the premier league because it’s the only one you’re going to get!! COYS!!!!!!

      • The Cat says:

Look who’s talking…… A manager less team of want away mercenaries supported by half wits with delusions of grandeur! Jealous because some skins missing?

        • Stoney says:

Antisemitic. Resorting to racism. I suggest west ham fans don’t cast further dispersions on the intelligence of spurs’ fans when you are of their ilk. I wonder if this site will report you for such a remark. If it doesn’t it could possibly be misconstrued as condoning such comments.

      • spuds hater says:

        talking crap again spud muppet

      • spuds hater says:

        you still asleep?

  • Kwame says:

What I will say on Redknapp is that he gave the spuds his best; before he came along was it 10 odd years without a league win over Arsenal? And Champs League footy was but a dream.
I think the way spuds fans subsequently turned on him when he was sacked proves my point that they never really accepted him; i guarantee the next man though the door wont do a better job or even come close to what Harry achieved.

  • Saboteur says:

no one from west ham claim to be anything, unlike our north London cousins, so bored of next year , next year, please shut up, and when you do something then go tell Arsenal fans, coz we don’t care, so fuck off

  • Colm47 says:

He stabbed Billy Bonds in the back all those hers ago.
That was enough for me. Never liked him since.
He and his ugly dog can run right along.
