Should he be given a chance next season?

|

Pablo Barrera was our second signing in the summer of 2010, but after a bit of a shaky start for the Hammers, he only made 14 league appearances in the season that we were destined for relegation.

He may not have scored any goals, but then I don’t think he was given a massive chance to get into the groove of English football after his £4million move.

I definitely think that Big Sam should either give him a chance by starting him consistently to see what he’s made of, or sell him now to cut off his contract, which is running until 2014.

Barrera made 20 appearances for Real Zaragoza on his season long loan there, scoring one goal for the club. He has also scored 18 goals for his country in 85 appearances, and if Mexico are picking him consistently then surely we should give him a chance? The fans have even christened him with the nickname of ‘Dynamite’, so they must be seeing something different to what we did in his brief spell for us so far.

When he signed for West Ham, Barrera said: “To perform for West Ham and then move to a bigger team in European football are my goals. I want to show what I’m made of and succeed in Europe for many years.”

Barrera didn’t get much support from Avram Grant, but Sam Allardyce is a manager who can get the best out of his players – just look at how Ricardo Vaz Te has thrived since coming to our club. It will be interesting to see what Sam makes of Barrera, and whether he has a future with the Irons.

What do you think? Give him a chance or get rid? Let me know by leaving a comment or tweet me at @alwaysintune.

He obviously has talent but was never really given a chance by Avram. I think he should stay and be given a run of games to see how he performs before getting rid of him.

the guy is awesome in a mexico shirt.also most of his appearances for us were off the bench with 10mins to go.I was dissapointed we loaned him out last year as i thought a year in the championship would be a perfect way for him to adapt to english football.Especially after he feaured alot in reseason.Give him a decent run and see how he is going,if not ge rid in january but in all honesty i think pablo would be a real asset to our team, great pace, can beat a man with his dribbleing and a decent cross!

If Berrera thinks this is a stepping stone club, then he can jog on, but if he is committed to WHU and wears his heart on his sleeve then i will embrace him, but with most of todays players it’s all about money and champions league…. thank god we have Noble and Tomkins, they are true Hammers players that love our club as much as us the fans. lets hope they both play well this season, as they are a credit to the badge.. as for Berrera i think in my heart although he is a quality player should move on, as i only really want commited players at the club, thats what bonds you as a team, when you have players looking for an escape route, why try to keep them, they won’t be playing at their best when they are not happy, we need to build a family, with Nolan as the Daddy who demands respect, but leads by example, who teaches the rest of family how to stay together through good and bad times. thats how we will come through the season not fighting relegation this season. Togetherness is the key, working as a unit… As sad as i was to see GreenO leave, he wanted to fly the nest, looking for the Green notes that have diseased his mind, now if you ask any WHU fan what they thought of Greeny that would have said he was a massive part of the family, someone we all loved, but sadly his love is only for money, and i will find it hard in my heart to forgive him for breaking up a key part of the family,
