Serie A-ously?

|

Earlier this week, Sam Allardyce was spotted in Italy meeting Juventus directors, sparking speculation that West Ham are looking to sign Eljero Elia and Milos Krasic. But would they really be on their way toWest Ham?

Italian Sky Sports crews caught Allardyce shaking hands withthe Juventus staff, and I can’t really see him going over there if there wasn’t promise of a deal happening.

Elia and Krasic both want a fresh start away from Juventus, with Elia even handing in a transfer request due to his lack of first team football last season. Krasic played less than he would have liked due to injuries and then tactical changes during the campaign.

I think it’s definitely possible that we could snap up Elia, although perhaps on a loan deal rather than buying him outright. He only played 107 minutes of football in the whole of last season, so I think a move to the Premier League with a team who want to be pushing towards mid table next season may well appeal to him.

Juve paid 9 million euros for Elia last season, and I’m not sure they’ll want to let him go for much less than that. With reports of West Ham making ambitious offers for other players, I don’t think we’d be able to stump up the transfer fee for him as well.

With Krasic, he has a much higher price tag than Elia, so I definitely don’t think we’ll be able to afford him. Liverpool also look to be interested in him to boost their season after a poor 2011/12 campaign.

But who knows with West Ham, after all we were the team that brought Carlos Tevez to England!
