Hammers opt for Euro stars?

|

Premier League scouts will be buzzing round the Euro 2012 tournament like wasps in a baker’s window but who can the Hammers sign from the competition to boost their survival chances this coming campaign.

Here’s my top 5.

Theodor Gebre Selassie : The Czech right back has shown some real attacking flare with some excellent overlaps in what is a poor Czech side. His current club Slovan Liberec are unlikely to be able to resist a good offer and the player I’m sure would relish the challenge of the Premier League.

Pavel Pogrebnyak : Last season the big Russian showed some excellent finishing and a strength in the air that Big Sam would relish. Fulham will want to sign him and may have an agreement but no move as of yet should encourage the Hammers to make an offer.

Eljero Elia : Bit of a cheat as he did not actually make the Dutch squad but he was some player in the last World Cup, Elia has just handed in a transfer request after playing a grand total of 2 games in a whole season for Juventus. As I say it’s a bit of a cheat but here’s hoping Big Sam reads Forever West Ham!

Alessandro Diamante : The Hammers favourite never really got a chance to show what he could do consistently on the Premier League stage, I personally believe he could really make an impact if he returned to Upton Park. A creative attacker is what our forward line will need next season to compete.

Florent Malouda : Chelsea have released the left midfielder after their Champions League win. A player who is still a regular in the French national side surely will only improve our midfield. Having been at Chelsea since 2007 I’m sure a trip to the other side of London would not be a hardship for the skilful winger, a wage drop might be.

Do you agree with my selections?

Do tournaments like the Euro’s make players look better than they actually are?

Sadly Sam is only able to look at players Over 32! as someone else is said he wants to be like Chelsea next season! that is The Chelsea Pensioners!

Jaybs, afraid you’re talking bollocks and paying too much attention to the media. You know I thought the man would have early some respect after getting s promoted at Katherine first time of asking, especially after the season prior to that. He is the best manager we have had since Lyall and will keep us up. Wrong place to pick up players, need to see them over a longer period than the Euros, don’t want the same mistakes that clubs make with transfers after world cups. I would be happy with Trying to do business with those with prior Pemier League experience and some up and comings.

I agree with JMAN43. Players that do well in the Euros will become overpriced by their clubs and would represent an impulsive buy after being looked at in only a handful of games

  • zola says:

Eg. Would be a much better deal bidding for proven Danny Simpson who rejected Newcastles transfer offer than an unproven Czech right-back

I totally agree with seeing diamanti back! I commented on it another article on another website, when we let him go that it was a huge mistake. (kumb if u can publish it!) That his heart, desire, creativity, and admiration our club was second to only
W one, that being our beloved Paulo (yes Mr noble falls into this bracket also, but hopefully you will appreciate I am talking about out and out goal scoring prowess on top of sheer guile, determination, with a love for our club.

This said I’m a bit confused (yes, I know its hard to believe) that the following players are yet without mention as they would be pretty high on my seasonly shop so to speak.

    1. Nathan Redmond. Birmingham, 18 years old, pace to burn, eye for goal.

    2. Matt Phillips. Blackpool, tricky winger, pacey and knows where the target is!

    3. Julian faubert, yes my third choice is what you may call sarcasm, but honestly, since jules has been with us can you ever remember a better season from him? When he played this season we played FOOTBALL, looking for the wings, bearing the full backs, ok, we didnt always get it right but it was the west ham way. I was fortunate and unfortunate enough to see jules before and after his achilles injury and in my opinion as someone who has always clearly been a confidence player, benefiting from a run of games, he had his best season in our claret and blue, but obviouly he didn’t fit into the plans…. For me sorely missed…..

Ok…. You can destroy my comments now….crack on….

If Diamanti was such a Hammer’s favourite then a West Ham who writes online should know how to spell his name, moron.

Needed to write you that very little word to help say thakns the moment again for these beautiful strategies you’ve shared at this time. It’s quite pretty open-handed of people like you to provide unhampered just what some people could have advertised as an e-book to end up making some cash on their own, and in particular given that you could possibly have tried it in the event you considered necessary. Those advice likewise acted to become a good way to recognize that other individuals have the identical passion just as my personal own to find out more and more in regard to this condition. I know there are many more pleasant situations ahead for those who read carefully your blog.Krosterantori
