What’s it like being a West Ham fan right now?

|

As the league season draws to a close and the Hammers embark on the lottery of the play offs and a possible trip to Wembley just how are we feeling?

After a long season of ups and downs, I think most Hammers are proud and happy with West Ham’s first attempt of promotion which saw them ultimately run out of steam in the month of March and succumb to the fantastic run of form of Reading and the consistency of Southampton to finish a respectable third.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

That month of March is the month that will haunt the Hammers players and fans alike. Five consecutive draws meant the Hammers fell from 1st place to 3rd. The biggest drop of the roller

coaster that is supporting West Ham United, although I guess we should have got an inkling from the small dip that was the humiliation of losing 5-1 away at Ipswich. The frustration, the hope, the despair as another guilt edge late chance flashes wide of the post is all the things you sign up for when you start supporting this great club.

Right now, we are feeling confident we have just watched big Sam collect the club record of away wins, 13 (soon to be fourteen we hope) and restored the pride of travelling West Ham fans. West

Ham fans can get on the train or car before an ‘away day’ and actually feel confident of gaining victory unlike recent season which saw us pick up a pathetic 2 league away wins in two seasons. I have no doubt the lucky fans who got tickets for Thursday’s crunch clash against Cardiff will travel with an expectation that they would never had felt in previous season, and that credit has to lie with the players and coaching staff.

Leaving the ground on Saturday the crowd in general were excited and buoyant looking forward to the play offs, and the queue for tickets suggested that. Home and away tickets were selling like hot cakes and the atmosphere around the ground and forum sites are of excitement and expectation.

The faithful finally have confidence again in the team, and that has been missing under the likes of Avram Grant and Gianfranco Zola. It is refreshing for fans to know they have a chance of winning every game they play in, and I for one have enjoyed every minute of every game this season, even the humiliating moments. Maybe the expectation comes from the league we find ourselves in, or maybe the squad of players we have in this league, but none the less the confidence around the ground is nice to see.

I think most Hammers are excited of the prospect of seeing their side at Wembley many like myself have never seen the Hammers at Wembley, and for me it is an exciting prospect. Yes we expected

to romp the league, but I think we were given an early indication that it wasn’t going to be as easy as many anticipated. Now as we leave this season behind, many a Hammer is left saying “Same old

West Ham”.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham

And I bet if you ask any West Ham fan out there if they would change the way West Ham are, The roller coaster, the ups and downs, the disappointment, the excitement, the pride. Would they heck! It’s those things that make supporting West Ham so addictive and so exciting to watch week in week out.

Come On You Irons!

I for one did not think we would romp the League! and unlike you I have seen the ammers at wembley a couple of times. But stuff all that so called roller coaster up & downs!!!! I would jump at the chance to change the way West Ham are! I have had too many disappointments over the 48 years I have supported them! I just want us to do things easy for a change!!!!!
