Whatever happened to Kaba Diawara?

|

Forgotten the name? Me too. Here’s what he’s up to now.

This 36 year old French-born Guinean footballer started his English career at Arsenal after being spotted by Arsene Wenger whilst at Bordeaux.

However, his time at Arsenal was disappointing and although creating a lot of chances, Diawara never got on the score sheet in 12 appearances for the Gunners.

Kaba moved on to Marseille in 2000, again scoring no goals. Then came a move to PSG, where he was instantly shipped out on loan to Blackburn. Blimey, this is starting to sound like a game of pass the Diawara isn’t it!?

Anyway, Diawara’s football apparently didn’t suit the style of Blackburn and so his loan deal was cancelled… Leading him to Upton Park!

Redknapp seemed to be hoping that Diawara would replicate the success of Kanoute, but sadly it wasn’t to be. Guess how many goals he scored for West Ham?

Yup, you guessed it. Zero.

From West Ham, he signed for Racing de Ferrol on loan, as well as Nice while still at PSG.

2004 saw Diawara move to French side AC Ajaccio, and he went through another 3 clubs before moving to current club Arles-Avignon.

His goal record with his current side is 8 in 50 appearances, so at least he seems to have improved over time!

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham

His overall goal to league game ratio for the duration of his career is 0.14, so it’s fair to say he hasn’t set the world alight.
