An end to the madness?

|

For the last 10 years I’ll wager that West Ham United have been the craziest club on the planet to support.

Endless scraping in these end of season contests where it’s literally been all or nothing, death or glory, success or failure and whilst it’s thrilling and exciting and if anything has made the bond between supporters and the club even stronger this madness has to stop!

In the last 10 years we’ve gone down on the final day, stayed up on the final day, lost a play-off final, won two play-off finals and lost an FA cup final in the most heart-breaking of circumstances. It’s literally been a thrill a minute ride and I’d wager that supporters of other clubs have often looked our way and wondered what it like is to be involved in such chaotic and passionate battles.

However what is now needed is some stability! A few mid-table Premier League finishes and none of this madness we’ve all become so accustomed to. If ever there was a man to deliver this it’s Big Sam; now we’re back in the big time David Gold and David Sullivan will supply Sam with the funds needed to re-establish us in the top flight and finally put an end to the madness that’s become the modern hallmark of West Ham United.

We however if this comes to pass shouldn’t mourn the unbridled excitement of a decade of unpredictability, instead we must embrace it as the next stage of our development, a few mid-table

safety seasons which would allow us to build and progress at a steady pace to the point where we can have a crack at trying to get back into Europe or dare I even dream…a top four finish?

The future is bright…as long as it’s a little dull…for a while.
