Time to stop running scared…

|

So we’re going to be in the play-offs and the time has come to stop running. It’s not ideal; we all wanted to go up automatically so we didn’t have to put up with the stress and pressure that the play-offs entail. But the truth is we simply haven’t been good enough to finish in the top two and therefore we don’t deserve the peace of automatics.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

But the key thing to remember is that our chance at a swift return to the big-time has not come and gone and we must all start to embrace the idea of the play-offs. Who amongst us isn’t salivating at the thought of a second leg semi at a packed Boleyn, under the lights and live for the nation to watch?

As West Ham fans we’ve already experienced the unbridled joy and the excruciating pain of the play-offs. And we must steel ourselves again for what’s going to be a momentous battle to reach Wembley; last time out our victims were Ipswich Town as we beat them in successive seasons to reach Cardiff. I’ve recently been watching highlights of those games on Youtube and the goals, celebrations and full time whistle’s still cause the hairs on the back of neck to salute what were truly incredible nights.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham

The truth is that even though there is naturally a downer amongst the fans and players that automatics will not be achieved; we are still the team others would want to avoid in the play-offs: our away record has been awesome all season, we have more than several match winners in theside and who would really fancy coming to Upton Park for a 2nd leg only to be met with an actual wall of noise?

This season we’ve only lost 8 out of 44 games thus far; this tells me we are a hard nut to crack and whilst our home form has been poor this season; we haven’t lost many at home. So surely it’s not beyond the realms of possibility in the semi’s that we could win the away leg and draw at home to secure a trip to Wembley?

I think when it comes to the play-offs a lot of it is to do with your attitude; the last time we were at this level we were just happy to be in them after a tumultuous campaign; whilst Ipswich who finished 3rd were frustrated and disappointed after a season in which they played awesome football with Bent and Kuqi scoring bucket loads…we all know what happened next.

It’s so important that in the coming weeks the players, manager and fans alike all unite and start to embrace the idea of the play-offs and forget about automatics. Of course the comfort and safety of automatics is something we all wanted but the glory of going up through the play-offs surpasses anything that Reading/Southampton will feel. We’ve been there, we’ve done it,now for heaven’s sake let’s do it all over again.

At last, someone who writes on here who isn’t deluded & thinks it’s our god given right to be in the prem. we aren’t already promoted because we simply haven’t been good enough over the season.

maybe I’m the deluded one here, I watched the game tonight & yes we dominated large amounts of the game & great that we won & still have a slim chance of automatic promotion, but I am really the only one who thinks that we will struggle nearly every week against the “big boys” of the prem or even the not-so-big?? The amount of times I was screaming at the screen when the final ball was miss played or Cole lost the ball & still gave up straight away. Nolan….???????? why, oh why, oh why?

I have tried to have an open mind about BFS, but F**K ME we are so predictable, boot it long up to Cole/Vaz Te or whoever…. if we had put away only a third of the chances we have created in every game we would have been promoted weeks ago. Is this because we are so much better than most other teams in this league or because every one else are so crap??? unfortunately I believe it’s the latter..

Don’t get me wrong, I really want us to go up & play in the holy grail that is, if nothing else so we don’t have to play the kind of football we had to sit through this last year. I can actually see us winning the play-offs.

Can the 2 David’s afford for us to compete if we get there??? we would need to spend BIG just to stay there.
