Is this the man to replace England’s No.1?

It looks like we’re going to be losing our beloved goalkeeper Robert Green, he will definitely leave if we fail to gain promotion and may still end up leaving even if West Ham do manage to return to the Premier League.

Jussi Jääskeläinen is looking like the likely replacement for the claret and blue club and is available on a free transfer in the summer. It is rumoured that West Ham will have competition from West Brom for his signature though.

Jussi has been capped 55 times by his home country of Finland before he retired in October 2009. During his time at Bolton he established himself as a highly rated goalkeeper and even won the award for “Best goalkeeper in the Premiership” in the 2001-2002 season. In the 2007 season he also won Bolton Wanderer’s “Player of the Year” award and “Players’ Player of the Year”. Both are massive achievements.

Arsenal, Manchester United, Real Madrid and AC Milan are the biggest clubs that were said to be showing an interest in Jussi during his time with Bolton.

Standing at 6ft 3in Jussi is not a small man by any means and knows how to make himself look big in front of goal. Ruud Van Nistelrooy is a name which is known all over the world, he has played for two of the biggest clubs in the world (Manchester

United and Real Madrid) and is known for his goal poaching and being able to be “in the right place at the right time”. During Van Nistelrooy’s time in the Premiership he quickly became one of the most feared strikers in the league. Jussi was the first goalkeeper to save one of Van Nistelrooy’s penalties.

If we do lose our very own England’s number 1, I think this is one of the best replacements available to us in this current time. Here’s hoping we keep hold of Greeno, but if not then lets welcome this experienced and determined goalkeeper with wide open arms.
