FIVE Players we HAVE to sign from the Championship

|

A week ago Sam Allardyce said he didn’t want to be playing at Wembley on the 19 th of May because he had tickets to the Amir Khan fight in Las Vegas, but following Reading’s 1-0 win away at Brighton leaving West Ham reeling 6 points behind with four to play means he will have to be there on the 19th if he is to achieve his ambition of getting West Ham up at the first attempt.

If he does reach this ambition would it be worthwhile to raid the league he just got up from via the roller-coaster that it the play-offs which five should he be looking at, here’s my five to be considered.

The fastest growing Hammers website is now on Facebook, click the link to be entered into our up and coming competitions http://www.facebook.com/pages/ForeverWestHamcom/200938616608282

1. Peter Whittingham: The Cardiff midfielder is one the most sought after player in the Championship and could decide it is time to step up to the big time in the Premier League. He could be available for a smallish fee and would add much needed flair and quality to the left hand side. Not only does he deliver goals from open play he takes a top free kick and corner.

2. Robert Snodgrass: Similar to Whittingham, Snodgrass takes a top class free kick. Whilst not be blessed with pace, his awareness and positional sense is second to none in this league. I think Snodgrass could step up to the Premier division of England and could be firm fans favourite at Upton Park. With his passing and ball skills, again he could be available at a reasonable price and would be interested in a move to the “big time”.

3. Matt Phillips: This player is one I feel the Hammers should offer big money to get into the Hammers team. I’m sure you’ve seen the theme. Pacy skilful players are the order of the day. Phillips who has lit the league up this year would be a superb signing. He is quick skilful and has a fantastic finish. He can play up front or on the wing. His versatility could play a vital role in the Hammers first year back up in the Premier league.

4. Rhys Williams: The Australian born Middlesbrough star would give the Hammers superb versatility and is one of the most promising players in the league. He can play midfield and

centre half. Tough in the tackle and good in the air, Williams again could be available at a good price and his versatility could prove vital in West Hams first year in the Premier league, with age on his side he could prove to be a super signing.

Ever dreamt about getting paid for reading about West Ham? Well now you can make dreams a reality http://bit.ly/ffc-foreverwestham

5. Lewis Mcgugan: Nottingham Forest star player is well known to us Hammers after his world class strike in the dying minutes at Upton Park. He is another player who takes a good set piece and can strike a mean ball. Some Forest fans say he can be lazy but if anyone can get the best out of a player Big Sam can. The Forest number 10 is still young at 23 and has a good footballing career in front of him and with Forest needing the money he could be

available at a good price and could be step up with the right guidance and players around him.

So there’s my five potential raids from the Championship should we go up. What are yours?

Agree with them all apart from Snodgrass, i’ve watched many of Leeds games this season and he has done nothing to set the world alight. He was also the worst player when they played Reading on Friday.

What about Ross mc cormack at leeds he’s done well this year scoring a lot of goals for them

  • phil says:

have to agree with McCormack and if we don;t go up we will need a real striker next season to lead the line with Maynard and Baldock once COLE goes

“if anyone can get the best out of a player Big Sam can”

    Are you serious?

If we signed him then he’d probably be played out of position or stuck on the bench

    Ask Lansbury/Maynard/Baldock/Morrison

This is true to an extent I do some times
Wonder if Sam does actually like footballing players or does he like grafters?? To me there has to be a balance and I think he has lost sight of that with us this season but hopefully gets us up and changes to a more ballanced side with attacking skill aswell as a hardcore spine

  • CB says:

    you named FOUR wingers

    not very likely is it

  • sam says:

If we go for a winger, zaha should be the man. He could be convinced by our dedication to young players.

  • harry says:

and if we miss out on promotion we will be selling more players than we sign

  • jonjo says:

Whoever wrote this article is useless if we get out of the championship why sign championship players you utter moron! Because we will just end up back there! Firstly the only player I would sign from the championship is Zaha from palace I would also have Joe cole. As he will be a bargain , yakubu proven goalscorer which is what we lack, take anton ferdinand back for defensive cover when qpr go down and matt jarvis when wolves go down as he has been brilliant this season, I would also sell faubert can’t beat a man and hasn’t acually got a position , one out of o brien and demel. And john carew, along with the loans of lansbury , collins and montenego all finishing to balance the wages

Jonjo, we get 3 articles a week to write, 2 with titles which we have to stick to one of our choice, this is one i was given. I agree with Zaha, and in another article i have wrote which is yet to be put up he was mentioned. I agree with your points.
